The "anime" style was was abandoned because it was less easy to sell and more expensive than CGi.

I don’t even care about this show at all and this still pisses me off, this looks so good

I envy the people in the alternate timeline where this was the direction they went with.

If the show was the same as now but looked like this instead, it would already make it 4 times better. We were robbed 🥲

It could have become a classic for Kids, like Pokémon. But instead it ended being a show with a lot of shipping for teenagers

As a fun fact, Toei got interested in this project, after their research and trips to Paris, during the making of Heartcatch Precure movie.

The full demo is here. I love this style way more than what we got.

This one still hurts. It looks sooooo good. Watched that trailer like million times ... still can't believe they went with cgi

"it was less expensive in CGI", yet older animation made when the budget to do it was practically non-existant is 100.000.000 times more believable than any overuse of CGI vomit of today. It's absolutely, totally, completely ridicolous on all fronts and more.

I found these demo designs of Marinette and Adrien interesting because when transformed they do look and feel different from what they originally look like and therefore it feels more believable that they don’t easily identify each other.
