“Mirror is about regret: One of Tarkovsky’s recurring concerns is the terrible realization that life is happening only once. Its deepest point: Mirror ultimately argues that to understand yourself, you have to come to terms with the past rather than escape it.” 🔥❤️

A deep scene of connection, that nature does give us answers , but we don’t listen to the space between words . And not as lonely as we think we are

The Vertigo Shot

Волны ветра - потрясающе.

Tarkovsky's mother cheated on her husband with doctor, which is why the child, tarkovsky's himself, in the movie burned the building. This movie is about his past trauma and the love for his mother.

Mirror is deeply autobiographical, absolutely, but that doesn't mean every image is some coded confession. The biography is getting a bit scrambled here too: according to his sister Marina's memoirs, it was Tarkovsky's maternal grandmother, not his mother, who left her husband for a doctor. And in the film the doctor is just a passing stranger, there's no affair, and the boy doesn't burn the barn either. Tarkovsky turned family history, memory, dreams and guilt into poetry, not a literal family police report.
