Here’s some context. This movie takes place in 1956 Nelsonville, Ohio, Jonathan Bellah (the booby, grabbing nerd) befriends his new neighbor, rebellious Gene Harbrough (the guy with the nice hair). Gene teaches Jonathan how to attract girls, targeting Jonathan’s crush, Marilyn McCauley (the girl in blue) while Gene pursues the town bully’s girlfriend. The rest of the movie is basically them going through their lives and Jonathan becoming a tougher guy.
