Force majeure, not contractor failure The portal damage near the Khandala exit was triggered by extreme rainfall and slope water ingress, this doesn’t point to a flaw in the tunnel engineering itself. What most people commenting don’t realize: the Missing Link’s two tunnels are joined by a viaduct/cable-stayed bridge that was actually added over two years after the tunnels were built, following a gap identified in the original DPR. That retrofit is where landslide/slope protection should have been more comprehensively addressed and if anything fell short, it’s likely there, not in the contractor’s execution of the tunnels. Before turning every monsoon incident into a referendum on “corruption” or “shoddy work,” it’s worth understanding where the actual gap in the project lies. Instant expertise, minus the engineering context, isn’t scrutiny but it’s noise.

The sad part is there will be another ceremony to announce they repaired this.
