Haven Demo has successfully completed its initial perigee-lowering maneuver to demonstrate the spacecraft's ability to perform a controlled deorbit. The spacecraft engaged its orbit-maneuvering thrusters for approximately 14 minutes, lowering perigee by ~170km.

Last week, Haven Demo, our in-orbit test bed for critical space station technologies, completed vibration testing. This testing simulates the dynamic quasi-static loads and vibration with 3 dB, or 50% more input power, than the spacecraft will experience during launch. This proves margin and gives us high confidence that the spacecraft will survive the rigors of the launch environment. We are now one step closer to flight readiness, with this test verifying Haven Demo’s structural integrity for launch.

Vast introduces Haven-2, our proposed successor to the International Space Station (ISS), at #IAC2024. When fully built, Haven-2 will surpass the ISS in capabilities and cost efficiency. Haven-2’s first module will be operational in 2028, ensuring continued U.S. and international presence in LEO after the ISS’s scheduled retirement in 2030.

In October, we completed a successful fit check of the docking adaptor for Haven-1, marking another key milestone toward launch. Vast has officially opened its new Long Beach headquarters, a 189,690 sq. ft. campus to support the world’s first commercial space station and the successor to the International Space Station. Office of Mayor Rex Richardson and Councilwoman Megan Kerr joined Vast Founder Jed McCaleb, CEO Max Haot, and Lead Astronaut A.J. (Drew) Feustel to officially open the new Mission Control Center. Our new state-of-the-art facilities are enabling our engineers to continue their progress toward the launch of Haven Demo later this year and Haven-1 in 2026.
