Unlike pitch tracking (Hawk-Eye, Trackman), biomechanics varies team to team, creating a massive gap in how player movement is measured and understood. Kyle Boddy breaks it down in a recent appearance on Michael MacKelvie’s podcast.

You can’t just go create that person or system.”

The answer is no!!! We put too much stock in A Teams, B Teams, C Teams at the youngest levels. It doesn’t matter… find a team that you will play, have a lot of responsibility, and get solid coaching. Take a breath, let the kids play and have fun, while learning how to be competitive, part of a team, disciplined, etc.

Sat and watched pro infield practice. The gap at the next level isn’t mechanics. It’s movement. You can’t train like a robot and expect to play like an athlete. The nervous system doesn’t know the difference between training and the game — it plays how it practiced. Better movement = better player.
