A couple keys on the *press* glove action when dealing with the extremely tough short in between hop that often eats infielders up… Dirt Bro instructor, Taber Mongero, explains the common flaw of wasted time/space when using the press glove action, and how it should be eliminated. Following this explanation, you can see Taber execute the press glove action at game speed on a play where it was extremely necessary. The reason why he is using the press glove action on this play is to turn a tricky short in between hop into a much more manageable short hop by pressing forward through the ball before bringing the ball back to his mid line center line and throwing to first for the out. #DoingDirtWork

Ding… 🛎️ Ding 🛎️ Ding 🛎️ !!! The Tigers struck out the least as a team in June (of all season) and they had the best offense in baseball that month. ** So nice to see a MLB Team finally Make that significant connection! See video… Striking out hurts your offense and loses games… I’ll stand on that mountain forever. Got to put the ball in play with 2 strikes. Hard preferably, yea of course, but even softer hit contact and miss hits find holes and can be tough plays for D. But Hard “right turns” and “left turns” with a K don’t do that. No pressure put on opponents. Develop a solid 2 strike approach and fight tooth and nail to survive! Move the lineup, pass it down. Frustrate the pitcher and defense. Run up pitch counts of opponents starters. Put up crooked numbers in multiple innings. All of it… why? Because it wins. And it’s beautiful baseball to watch! Dirt Bro Diamond Training Taber Mongero

What earns playing time? Especially at the Amateur levels? Being a tough out. It gets you in the lineup … and a team full of tough outs play for, and win, championships! Look at the two teams in the MLB #WorldSeries They grind out at bats against the best arms in the world. Many of them refuse to strike out. It’s a mentality and approach all in one. Refuse to die! Spoil pitches! Raise pitch counts! Frustrate the pitcher and break him down. Make them throw as many high stress pitches as possible! Young players must begin to see the value of putting pressure on the defense…. I feel the pendulum is swinging back around to the value of competitors with two strikes. Even at the Big League level. Time will tell… Dirt Bro Diamond Training Taber Mongero Next Level Baseball

For all the players (at all ages) that spend their entire batting practice “hooking and pulling” everything… Take a look at the video and then listen carefully to Adam Wainwright Adam Wainwright talk about Castellanos’ approach in BP today… hint… not one pitch pulled… everything backside (oppo). Batting practice is a chance to work your swing and focus on “in game approach.” Wish more young players could learn this and work to apply. Become a complete hitter. Fundamental keys of “catch play.” Specifically improving your ability to receive the baseball … using good “actions” to catch the ball. It’s the first thing coaches, recruiters and scouts notice while watching you throw. Do you catch the ball “cleanly? Do you dominate the catch?” And do you develop good habits by moving your feet (within reason) to receive the ball inside your shoulders… which allows for a quicker transition to throw. This is especially important for infielders and catchers. And as simple as this next point might seem, do you know when to catch with 2 hands vs 1? All of these keys (baseball IQ) are touched on in this 101 level video. Dirt Bro Diamond Training Taber Mongero UNCW Baseball Camps #DoingDirtWork

‘25 RHP Carson Pack (Carson pack;OHS Patriot Baseball) NO-HITTER alert ‼️‼️ Carson Pack goes 7 innings giving up 0 hits with 7 K’s in win over Bartlett (Memphis, TN) Relied heavily on his fastball (85-87 T88) working to all quadrants with a CH used (78-79) behind in the count/breaking ball (72-74) to both lefties and righties At 5-11 and 160 pounds, gets all out of the frame with a longer stride down the mound where he has been up to 90 mph. More velocity to come as he fills out #TNHS24 || @PBR_Uncommitted || Shooter Hunt

Elite hands don’t happen by chance. And no matter your starting point, there is always a room for improvement. Find ways to challenge your hand tempo and deflect exchange confidence/speed. Rhythm and repeatability are key elements to each drill. Stay calm, relaxed, & free and easy. When you combine elite, hands, with elite feet, elite arm, and elite internal clock or “instincts,” you become an elite defender who can dominate. Here are some various 3 ball and 2 ball drills that Dirt Bro Taber Mongero current Director of Player Development at UNCW Baseball did as a 4 year starting D1 SS. Some of these drills were a part of his daily “hands routine” used before every practice or game. #DoingDirtWork Dirt Bro Diamond Training Next Level Baseball

This is Jason Belmonte, the “Tiger Woods of bowling”. Born in Australia, his parents owned a bowling alley. He started playing as a toddler and — since the ball was too heavy — bowled with two hands. He adapted the two-handed grip and has dominated. Purists think it’s unfair because the two-handed approach can generate way more spin (because no thumb) and the extra velocity just destroys the pins. However, Belmonte’s approach is completely legal. And he’s gone on to win a record 15 Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Major titles. What do I think? After watching a few of his highlights in slow-mo and cut against dramatic music, I’m fully sold on the approach.

Brutal…!!! What else can we do with these stupid rules to mess up our great game? So now, as a result, the question has to be asked (from a technical standpoint) … Do we go back to straddling the bag to make the tag, if the throw is online? The hardest part of receiving a throw (in front of the bag), even when you let the ball travel to the glove, is reaching the far backside of the base with a tag. Now…If you can’t adjust your feet at all in front of the base, straddle might become the best option? If I’m a baserunner, I’m sliding head first to the far back corner of these larger bases. …any thoughts? MLB Dirt Bro Diamond Training Taber Mongero

To me, this is hitting. Look at his approach. Adjustability. Short. Uses the whole field. Can also drive the ball. Hits the ball where it’s pitched. Tough out. We need way more of this in our game. Imagine a line up with 6 or 7 of these dudes! And two power bats (that swing and miss more often) but hit more long balls… now that is baseball. When I teach hitting to young players, this is more of my focus. Become a great hitter first and the power comes later… when you develop your man body. Then you can situationally hit and hit for power! Next Level Baseball Dirt Bro Diamond Training

Today I went through every 3-2 pitch Juan Soto saw in the 2025 season. Three things stuck out: 1️⃣ He Doesn’t Expand - he has some of the best strike zone awareness of anyone in the game. When he gets to two strikes, he does not chase or expand the zone. Most players start swinging at pitcher’s pitches. He makes pitchers execute a quality pitch to get him out. 2️⃣ He Competes! -he takes great pride in being a tough out. He battles. He doesn’t give in. He finds a way to get on base. 3️⃣ His Approach - because he’s so willing to use the entire field, his two strike approach does not need to change much. He gets a long look at each pitch because he’s willing to hit the fastball to the opposite field and pull the breaking ball.

Eye hand coordination. Rhythm. Scope of vision. Challenge. Kind of cool … and lots of fun. Become a master of your craft. Start simple and advance to complex. ** Look at the various different patters he can juggle. Impressive.** Some might say “eye wash.” I say they are wrong. I have heard MLB infielders say “juggling helps me on the field.” To me it’s a form of athleticism. Skill. This young man has been to about 8 of my camps and started for his varsity team as a 7th grader (private school). He puts in the work in every way. He has elite hands, feet, eyes, arm action and confidence. Undersized but huge heart to compete. A winner. I challenge all infielders to learn how to juggle. Just a very small piece, but still a piece. Next Level Baseball Dirt Bro Diamond Training Taber Mongero

Don't let anyone tell you the 2-strike approach is dead. Enjoy this absolute masterclass from Mauricio Dubon. After two whiffs on 97 mph fastballs he got a third. He dropped the leg kick, spread out, no stride and smoked a base clearing triple to right field.
