Asked Dale Earnhardt Jr. about big picture stuff in regards to the state of Nashville Fairgrounds and what it's up against Dale says he believes there can be a middle ground where the Fairgrounds Speedway can still exist and everyone involved in the ongoing politics of the Fairgrounds can be happy. He'd be supportive if Marcus Smith/SMI came in and got to improve the facilities, but spoke extensively about the appeal of grassroots racing in Nashville and doesn't believe the Fairgrounds' future is "NASCAR or bust" He also stumped for putting up a sound barrier, which he believes would be a great help to the neighborhood surrounding the racetrack

The aircraft had two occupants, according to initial police radio dispatches, and a wide area has been blocked to traffic while investigation takes place. A MnDOT traffic camera captured the ensuing fire. More information on the type of aircraft and the condition of the occupants is not yet available.

Nashville Superspeedway president Matt Greci attended the recent CARS Tour race at Nashville Fairgrounds as a fan, and he works for Marcus Smith/SMI who are trying to get a deal done to revitalize the place. "We think it's something of history that needs to be protected ... We'll continue to see what we can do, and make the efforts to make sure that Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway stays revitalized and has a long future." Greci said it was great to see a packed house at the Fairgrounds, particularly as he watched the first race of the night from the infield. "It really just brought a smile to my face that 'hey, this place can work and can host packed out crowds, and it can be a complement to the neighborhood that's there."
