Stan Van Gundy turned down $37,000 to make $7,500 because his dad told him to choose responsibility over money “It’s 1983, And I ended up with two job opportunities at the same time. I could have gone as the assistant at Dartmouth… That job was paying like $37,000. Or I could go as the head coach to Castleton State, which was a Division III program, for $7,500 bucks a year. So like a five-times difference.” “I remember calling my dad. He said, ‘If you want to coach, take the responsibility over the money.’ ‘You’re 24. You don’t need the money.’ He said, ‘Once you have more money, you’ll never go backwards, so then you’d never take a job like that again.’” “He said ‘The bottom line is $7,500 is good for you because if they were paying more, you couldn’t get it!’ He said ‘They’re stuck with you a $7,500 and 2 years of experience. And so that’s what I did.” “And the opportunity to be a head coach, and inherit a really good team at that level, was great. And with great people who virtually every single one of them I’m still in touch with now. And again, learned a lot from them in terms of how to coach. I came in with all the answers… My dad would say ‘If you got all the answers, it’s only because you don’t know all the questions.’ I remember thinking that’s so true in any job. “It was great experience to be able to coach my own team. I was two years older than most of the players… It’s still the most fun I’ve ever had coaching, and I’ve coached a ton of NBA teams.”

#7 - Bill Maher delivers a brutal wake-up call to Democrats after the election. Reflecting on Kamala Harris’s last-ditch to captivate viewers on Saturday Night Live, Maher pointed out a major flaw with his party—a flaw so fatal that it makes it “not a good place for us to be.” “I saw Kamala was on Saturday Night Live, as the losing candidate often is… I’m sure every single member of the Saturday Night Live cast was a Harris supporter, but what if one of them wasn’t? What if one of those cast members was for Trump? Would they have felt comfortable saying so? I really don’t think so. They would have had to keep it to themselves. That’s not a good place for us to be.” “And that happens even more on the left. I remember when Elon Musk hosted. And this is well before he was a Trumper. This is three or four years ago. He was just the richest man in the world. And a number of the cast members on Saturday Night Live, like, they didn’t want to deal with him. “They didn’t exactly boycott, but they made it plain. And I was thinking, really, you have Elon Musk on your show for a week. You could talk to one of the most interesting, brilliant people the world has ever produced, even about this issue that bothers you so much—that he’s so rich and lots of people aren’t. But no, you don’t want to even deal with him. “That’s what I hate about the left. You’re brats. You’re brats, and you’re snobs, and people don’t like that.”

Pep Guardiola on why Lionel Messi broke down in tears after the final whistle against Spain in the FIFA World Cup final. 🗣️ “The whole world thought Leo was crying because Argentina had lost the World Cup. They were wrong. I know him better than most people. Those tears came from somewhere much deeper. They were the tears of a little boy who realized the dream he had lived for more than twenty years might have ended forever.” “The moment I saw him standing there, I couldn’t watch anymore. I picked up my phone and called him. He answered, but he couldn’t speak. All I could hear was his breathing. We stayed in silence for what felt like forever because sometimes pain is too big for words.” “When he finally spoke, he said, ‘Míster… it’s not the defeat that’s breaking me. I can accept losing. What I can’t accept is that this may have been the last time I ever wore the Argentina shirt. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye.’ I completely broke down when I heard those words.” “I told him, ‘Leo, listen to me. Millions of people aren’t crying because Argentina lost. They’re crying because they know they may never see you wear that shirt again. They grew up with you. They celebrated with you. They suffered with you. Tonight, they’re mourning the end of an era.’” “He spent more than two decades carrying that badge with unbelievable pride. He gave Argentina his childhood, his youth, his best football and even the final years of his career. There was nothing left for him to give. He left every piece of his heart on that pitch.” “I said to him, ‘Don’t ever apologize. Don’t ever think you failed your country. The only reason this hurts so much is because you loved Argentina more than anyone could ever ask. That’s not failure that’s the purest form of love.’” “I’ve coached the greatest footballer I’ve ever seen, but that night I wasn’t speaking to a footballer. I was speaking to a man whose heart had been shattered because he believed his final chapter with Argentina had been written. That pain is something no trophy, no speech and no applause can ever heal.” “One day, people will remember who won that World Cup. But those of us who love football will also remember another image forever Lionel Messi standing in tears, not because he stopped loving football, but because football was asking him to say goodbye to the country he loved more than anything in the world.

A watershed moment on MS NOW — and their viewers aren’t going to like this one bit. Joe Scarborough just torched the woke wing of the Democratic Party and told them EXACTLY why they keep losing elections. Clue: the trans issue. SCARBOROUGH: “Get rid of those issues right up front, so you can then talk about the things that matter to all Americans.” “Like, for instance, you know, 85% of Americans have been saying this for ten years now, 85% of Americans don’t think that men who transition after puberty should be able to compete against women.” “That’s easy. Don’t get wrapped up on that! That’s easy!” “Right? Don’t be afraid to say that. Because if you’re afraid to say that you’re going to keep losing elections. It’s that simple.” Then Scarborough went right to the moment voters can’t unsee. “And I swear, I don’t know how Josh Hawley finds the people he finds to question…and, Claire, if you disagree with me, let me know…but when Josh Hawley asks you, or when somebody asks a Democrat, can men have babies?” “And you refuse to answer that for 30 minutes, that might be a clue why they think progressives, some progressives are disconnected with America!” “Let me give you the answer to that. It’s the key. It’s upside down. Bottom of the crossword puzzle. The correct answer is NO...” “Men can’t have babies!” “And men who transition after puberty should not be able to compete against girls in sports. This is EASY!” “Get that out of the way!” “If that’s not easy for you, DON’T run because you’re going to LOSE!”

🚨🎙️Ben Foster on Why Jordan Henderson Could Be Exactly What Chelsea Need Ben Foster: “Do you remember when we played Liverpool at Vicarage Road?” Co-host: “Yeah.” Ben Foster: “There was one player in particular who stood out more than anybody else on that pitch. Liverpool beat us comfortably, I think it was 5-0 or 3-0, but the scoreline wasn’t even the thing that stayed with me. It was Jordan Henderson. Honestly, every single one of us came off that pitch saying exactly the same thing: ‘Wow, he’s so important to that team.’ You could feel his presence everywhere.” Co-host: “He was like an on-field manager.” Ben Foster: “Exactly. And that’s the thing people don’t always see when they’re watching on TV. They see the passes, the running, the tackles, but they don’t see the constant communication. He had so much quality, but his leadership was on another level entirely.” Co-host: “Even players like Mané and Salah were looking at him for information. You could see them turning to him for instructions, guidance, reassurance. It was like he was the heartbeat of the entire team.” Ben Foster: “That’s what blew me away. We’re talking about some of the best players in world football, and even they trusted Henderson’s voice. Every few seconds he was pointing, directing, organising, demanding more. To see it firsthand at the highest level was incredible.” Co-host: “At the very top level.” Ben Foster: “The absolute top level. And afterwards in the dressing room, every one of us was talking about him. We weren’t talking about Salah’s goals or Mané’s pace. We were talking about Henderson. That’s how much influence he had over that Liverpool side.” Co-host: “You could tell the players would run through a brick wall for him.” Ben Foster: “Without a doubt. If Henderson told them to push harder, they pushed harder. If he told them to stay calm, they stayed calm. If he told them to jump, they’d ask how high. That’s genuine leadership. That’s something you can’t teach.” Co-host: “And that’s why so many managers value him.” Ben Foster: “Exactly. In modern football, everybody talks about tactics, systems and technical ability, but dressing rooms still need leaders. They still need characters who can hold standards, keep players accountable and drive the group forward when things get difficult.” Co-host: “Which is probably why clubs keep looking at him despite his age.” Ben Foster: “One hundred percent. And if you ask me, that’s exactly why I think he’d be a fantastic addition for Chelsea. They’ve got talent everywhere you look. Young, exciting players with massive potential. But sometimes what takes a talented squad to the next level is having that experienced voice in the dressing room every single day.” Co-host: “Someone who sets the standards.” Ben Foster: “Exactly. Someone who demands excellence in training, someone who isn’t afraid to speak up when things aren’t right, someone who has won the biggest trophies and knows what it takes to get over the line. Henderson brings all of that.” Co-host: “You think that’s why Xabi Alonso was so keen on him as well?” Ben Foster: “Absolutely. Managers like Xabi Alonso understand that football isn’t just played with your feet, it’s played with your mentality. Henderson gives you leadership, professionalism, organisation and belief. Those qualities spread through a squad. That’s why I can completely understand why Alonso would go all in for him. Players like that are rare. They make everyone around them better.” Co-host: “So for Chelsea, it would be about more than just what he does on the pitch?” Ben Foster: “Much more. It’s about culture. It’s about mentality. It’s about helping young players understand what elite standards look like every single day. That’s what Jordan Henderson brings, and that’s why every manager who has worked with him speaks so highly of him. You don’t replace that easily.” (THE FOZCAST)
