But that's not an example of the API being more complex, that's the spec being good. All these VU clauses are automatically checked by VVL anyway, and I much prefer VU to be explicitly spelled out to finding out about it empirically like in gl days...

this is still the most complex single function documentation in history of C function. must be :-) it scrolls like the GTA 5 credits!

That's the EULA of vkCmdDrawIndirect by the way, you legally cannot use it unless you read it from start to finish and agree to the terms.
