The point of the successful defamation case is not to stifle political debate. It's to stop the defamation of Moira as a N4zi and correct the record as well as it can be. Which the current players seem determined to overlook. If that stifles the ability of @DaveSharma to engage in political debate it says more about him than anything else. What a terrible position to take after @JohnPesutto was found guilty of defamation in an Australian Court and ordered to pay damages and court costs exceeding $2mil. I would have thought the correct response would be respect for the court's decision, an acknowledgement that @MoiraDeemingMP was grossly defamed, and a determination to root out any elements from with the @LiberalVictoria party that may engage in that type of defamatory action, as John Pesutto has been proven to do. Stop supporting him. Being defamed as a N4zi is so beyond the bounds of what any party members should be expected to deal with. Any party that indulges it under the pretence it's merely 'political debate' is corrupt.

100% correct. This is the reason the Libs lose elections. Take a stand on this issue. The pile on that occurred while the Libs were trying to show they don’t have a woman problem was a perfect opportunity to stand by Moira. To make matters worse, Pesutto doubled down egged on by former party leaders, to trash the one person that showed true courage. In the end, was it worth it? $2.3M to be on the wrong side of the argument that women are exceptional.

No she didn't do anything wrong. And @_davidlimbrick handled your questions like a pro. He's right, too. This is not an occasion for Schadenfreude. This isn't undergrad point scoring. Pesutto's family will suffer if he goes bankrupt, no matter how well deserved. He's unlikely to work again as he won't be able to run his consultancy business and he's not exactly employable as a lawyer after this debacle. That will put huge pressure on his family who are AFAIK innocent in all this. And remember there are at least 18 other Liberals and not a few staffers who share responsibility with Pesutto and are getting away with it scott free.
