The exit speed difference is massive , the long straight after the last corner shows this . How are Mercedes giving Kimi extra traction

Is it just me or kimi is just confident at cornering the car and accelerating out of it

@drago_el_diablo Probably. His future doesn’t look much brighter from here, with all the Toto and Max talk.

He’s been given a rocket, and has not delivered …. it’s max seat if he wants it .

He does seem to brake later and harder, then get on the throttle earlier. That could potentially be down to the car setup, but it puts a huge dent in Russell’s claim that there’s something about the car that doesn’t suit him, because this is pretty basic stuff.

Looks like two completely different driving styles, with Kimi's being the one that usually works better so long you're not trying to overtake. Braking earlier to get excellent traction out of the corner as early as possible, thus carrying more speed for longer to build gap.

Kimi was blocking him most of the track. Should have gotten a penalty for that.

yeap... that is what I saw when I watched qualifying. the two cars are definitely equal... DEFINITELY. George is loosing time in corner entry which compromises his exit speed. in the sweepers, Kimi is more committed at entry and carries through to the exit in the Slow speed corners, George is loosing time by OVER driving the entry and therefore loosing exit speed... Slow in, Fast out. remember, we are talking about .10's of a second over a complete lap... that is a tiny amount.

love this view cause it shows how peter windsor is wrong on this "early turn-in short corner" thing. he attached himself to this one concept so much that suddenly everything is always explainable by that. "you don't see it on telemetry and onboards but trust me" sure old man

Russell loses the Mercedes paint on Antonelli! Is it a coincidence in the video, or is it already reality that Antonelli is the face of Mercedes? He's already the new star.

He has never been in top 4 in quali or race, Merc was believed not to work well there, that teenager wasn’t given the script

Kimi got into a faster car after years of experience in F2. He is just applying what he learnt there with his new machine. Someone once said that F2 drivers are expected to perform well in the new era of cars & Kimi is there to grab everything that the Merc engine is up to offer

This is the PER situation all over again. You can see how RUS can't enter the turns with confidence and then loses speed on the straights. They're not racing under the same conditions, George doesn't trust his car and also there's the obvious 5 second penalty they didn't serve

Looks like Kimi has more rear end grip than George. This means he can put the power down earlier exiting the corners without fear over oversteer and spinning the car. George is being limited by oversteer

#noticing how kimi had a better regeneration throughout the whole lap. Does kimi have a better energy package or is George using his deployment poorly ?

Típica diferencia de un pro vs piloto medio. El pro frena antes pero da gas mucho antes. El piloto medio reduce tiempo en la frenada pero pierde más a partir de ese momento. Russell me representa en Iracing 🤣🤣🤣

Anderoo has subtle short corners and 63 has aggressive long corners with spiky inputs.

Russel is simply overdriving the car trying to gain time. Kimi brakes earlier but gets a better exit, if it continues like this Russel will be even more back in the next races where this driving style will cost him more with longer straights.

Interesting how Kimi its always harder on the breaks but always get an earlier and stronger exit. that seems to be the main difference between them. Hitting the breask a bit earlier and stronger might not be such a bad thing at all.
