TPA President Clayton Campbell joined Greg Brady on Toronto Today to call out the federal government’s focus on legal firearms. Our members know the truth: almost every gun used in violent crime in Toronto is illegal. These weapons are in the hands of gang members and repeat offenders, people already banned from owning guns, often out on bail, and still terrorizing our streets. Meanwhile Ottawa wants to waste time and money going after legal gun owners. Those resources should be used where they matter, stopping the flow of illegal guns and keeping our city and members safe. Enough is enough.

A Midtown Manhattan high-rise is now feared to be on the verge of collapse, and this is exactly the kind of public safety nightmare that should have every city official wide awake. This is not some small side street problem. This is Manhattan, packed with workers, tourists, families, businesses, traffic, and people walking under these buildings every single day. New Yorkers deserve answers immediately. How did it get this bad, who inspected it, what warnings were missed, and why does it always feel like the public only finds out after a situation becomes dangerous? This exercise will be followed by sustained surveillance and continuous monitoring to ensure that environmental order is restored and maintained along the corridor. We urge members of the public to respect and preserve our environment by refraining from converting public spaces into illegal markets or for any unauthorized private use.
