'Tonight broadcasting takes a giant leap backward' Yes, Orson Welles once introduced an episode, his final on-screen performance. In a black and white film noir parallel universe, Maddie is now a femme fatale showgirl (Cybil never looked better) and David a musician. 3/

Atomic Shakespeare A kid is told to do his homework and stop watching the show where, 'They argue a lot and all they really want to do is sleep together.' Moonlighting then transports us to their version of Shakespeare, complete with musical numbers and 50s sitcom refs 5/

Be My Baby. After 38 episodes of 'is you is, or is you ain't' Dave and Maddie did the deed, and so began the end of Moonlighting, breaking the tension, and breaking the show, now known as 'The Moonlighting Effect'. The show also had to work around Bruce becoming a huge star, and Cybill becoming very pregnant 6/

Demi Moore There was a time when Bruce Willis and Demi Moore were the hottest couple in Hollywood, so it was inevitable she'd rock up in an episode. Despite their breakup, they've remained good friends in spite of Virginia Madsen's, 'she'll only end up breaking your heart.' 7/

Animation By Season 4 Bruce was shooting Die Hard in L.A and Cybill was caring for her family in New York, so the writer's had to get creative. In one sequence David imagines Maddie as a Claymation witch, while he turns into a toad. 8/

The Honeymooners Moonlighting is a postmodern TV show, treading the same path as Cary Grant/Katherine Hepburn screwball comedies, especially when it comes to quick fire dialogue. They're standing on the shoulders of giants, most notably those of Jackie Gleason's The Honeymooners. 9/

'Another Opening, Another Show' By Season 5 it was known for production problems, tension between the stars and a dwindling audiences. This was a thank you to viewers for sticking with the show, also referencing Atomic Shakespeare basing the number on a Kiss Me, Kate tune. 10/

It's All Over The show ended in true Moonlighting fashion, having Maddie and David attempting to save themselves from cancellation before they cease to exist as characters. Sets are dismantled around them as they break the fourth wall for the final time. 11/

The Outtakes Moonlighting is a reminder that at one time TV didn't take itself so seriously, it had room to breathe. It was a remarkable, inventive, almost experimental show that went it's own way and never apologised. Will I always love it?... Do bears bear, do bees bee? 12/
