On July 10, 2014, four teenagers threw a large rock from an overpass above Interstate 80, that hit and seriously injured Sharon Budd. Her husband, Randy, who was sitting in the backseat of the car when the accident happened described the sound as ‘an explosion’ The rock destroyed much of Sharon’s skull, part of her brain and caused her to lose one eye. She needed seven surgeries but thankfully she survived. In August 2014, a Pennsylvania judge ordered Dylan Lahr, Tyler Porter, and Keefer McGee, to serve at least 4½ years, 1 year and 10 months, and 11½ months respectively for the crime. In 2016, Randy Budd was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home.
