You can't keep saying "women" and applying that same word to the 1970's woman and the 2020 woman without this: 1970 - we still had vast tracts of knowledge born of mothering kids. So we were able to bring that to these fields and benefit the interests of kids and women in understanding scene. Boundaries, limits, long term interests of a child require toughness, opposition, conflict, etc. It's a boot camp. Women do not reliably have this body of knowledge any more. Material change..

This was fascinating, especially the points about the shifts in education. Of course, those shifts are mostly driven by the progressive reformers who threw out most of the traditional model and curriculum. But there has also been a collapse of strict discipline and classroom management, which wasn't necessarily John Dewey's fault. So problem kids can't be kicked out of class, can't be allowed to fail tests, can't be held back a grade, can't be expelled. I wonder if the excess of kindness and understanding and endless second chances is related to the great feminization.

@herandrews Men have been doing this in other fields (research science, for example) forever. Don't love the lab work, get into administration/management.

I live in the epicenter of feminized culture here in BC and you would not believe how bad it is in the law field. An entire law school was 86'd because the school was a religious school and had the audacity to have an honor code that gay and lesbians to refrain from sexual relations during their training. We have entire firms and legal NGOs that are completely female, but none of them will lift a finger to help actual women who are having their spaces invaded by the trans-lobby. And it's a complete failure because most people are still representing themselves in court. Expanding the numbers of lawyers has done nothing to mitigate costs so people are waiting forever to get to trial, forever to get visitation rights for their kids. None of the lawyers want to deal with family violence so the Law Society has to pass rule after rule about how lawyers (read: paralegals) are supposed to screen for it. It's a disaster. And working at these firms is insufferable because any talent is stamped out immediately if it doesn't go along with whatever silly "family" girl thing they want to do. One woman would not stop asking me for money for my co-worker's things (free meals because they were sick kind of thing) even though I was clearly the least paid on the team. And I don't believe the motives are "kindness" either. You might find this conversation interesting...

@herandrews And this is why you, specifically, are successful regardless of your innate talent or passion. You're aware of the problem that tends to permeate all careers that are monetarily rewarding. Are women capable of the same intellectual pursuits as men? Almost entirely but rarely.

@herandrews She's right but there's a slight chicken and egg problem. The first women in STEM to start politicising their workplace & make it their brand to start women in stem programs presumably didn't go into STEM as a result of feminist outreach. But I agree once it starts it worsens
