NEW: Some good news coming out of the crime, chaos, and death ravaging Seattle. Over the weekend, the family of Marissa Flores watched my coverage of We Heart Seattle doing outreach at a drug encampment in the city. After contacting me for a location, Flores' family immediately jumped in the car, started a search, and miraculously found her in a tent. She's now in detox and back home with her kids. The politicians, academics, and activists keep saying this is primarily being fueled by an affordable housing crisis. Flores' family says don't listen to them. They say it's time to focus on drug treatment and recovery first if we are going to save lives in this city. Mayor Katie B. Gonna be 75 units of transitional housing for homeless drug addicts. There's already concern it's going to become a crime magnet in the community. More on that in a moment. But for now, here is Wilson's entire Q&A with the press. It turned into a semi sh*t show once the "Stop The Sweeps Seattle" crowd started criticizing the mayor for her aggressive encampment removals. Seattle Democrats have begun fining businesses for homeless encampments (This is real) “Who's to blame for homeless encampments on private property? If you’re Seattle, it’s not the homeless. It's not the city. It's property owners who should be punished.” Business owner goes out of town for a couple days, “and that's when 15 to 20 people moved into the parking lot. Those unhoused neighbors? Yeah, they kept doing drugs-drugs out in the open. Naturally, this generated a ton of complaints — since Seattle has made it difficult for property owners to remove encampments, Hawley called the cops. He then invested $30,000 more in a new perimeter fence, but for the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections, this wasn't enough. The city sent him a letter of property violations that included unauthorized entry, litter, overgrown plants, and graffiti. For the first 10 days of non-compliance, penalties are $150 a day. After that, penalties increase to $500 per day for each violation. Penalties keep adding up” The city then begins charging the property owner fees to prove they’re in compliance “Of course, they also charge fees for the monitoring, but those depend on the condition of property at that time. A building with no violations still incurs a $332 fee. A building secured with violations totals $652, and a building open to entry is a $782 penalty, and since the state hasn't screwed you enough, they also charge a 5% technology fee.“

They have never run anything of significance yet are thrust into a position of operating a city with some of the world's most significant companies; Amazon, Microsoft, Starbucks and Boeing all have a large presence in Seattle, not to mention several other large tech companies such as Google and Meta. Prior to becoming Mayor, Katie Wilson's only work experience was as an activist for a transit union, yet she counts the JumpStart tax as one of her "achievements". The JumpStart tax has caused Seattle to have the highest commercial vacancy rate in the entire nation, decimating Seattle's downtown core and hollowing out the city's tax base. Given the great advantages that Seattle has, it should be one of the most prosperous cities on Earth, with commercial real estate brimming with businesses who want to come here. Rather, the opposite is true. Businesses are looking for the exits because our city is being run by people with literally zero business experience and no understanding of how markets work.

The so called "service resistant" people do not believe cops will arrest them for illegal camping. Bores: They’re seeing all of these impacts, and they’re asking what the government is doing about it. And that’s not to say there aren’t some benefits to AI, but there needs to be reasonable regulation. They look at D.C., and with the exception of Bernie Sanders and a few others, mostly they see people either not doing anything or just cheering on the industry and saying, “Let’s get out of their way and let them have their will with the American people.”
