District 19 turned out in force tonight to tell the bike lobby NO. What was supposed to be a public hearing turned into a fiasco thanks to activists and lobbyists from outside the district more interested in bullying than listening to the people who actually live here. Let me be very clear once again — this isn’t going to happen here. We’re perfectly happy to hear from the DOT about their ideas but they’re not interested. We will not be shut down. Residents deserve to have their voice heard, not be forced into a manufactured faux-hearing by lobbyists and special interests where they’re ignored and antagonized. Keep in mind, they made zero effort to even inform the community about this meeting — nobody locally would even know this was happening unless MY OFFICE informed them. There is zero transparency. They don’t care about public input. They just want manufactured consent. And I’m not going to allow it.

Republicans snuck a provision into their budget bill that will make it harder for courts to hold the Trump administration — and any future administration — accountable. This is intentional. While Democrats fight aggressively to grab power across the country, Kansas Republicans are sitting on a redistricting opportunity that could send another Trump conservative to Washington. Instead, Kansas senate leadership is doing nothing. Republicans have a SUPERMAJORITY but the leadership is standing down. This is what happens when you have career politicians in office. As Governor I will redraw the maps and make sure Kansas starts winning again.
