More than one thousand comments on a viral social media post are mostly calling two orange tree sculptures in South Phoenix “tacky”, a “waste of tax dollars”, and even “butt ugly”.

The "artist" claimed it represented the farming community and workers. Problem is, the facial features appear to be african not hispanic. The field workers in the southwest are not and were not black, thus the artist is a fraud or retarded or is racist.

Wasting tax dollars is what governments do best. The politicians give themselves raises for doing it.

Some dumb dipshit in an office thought they could score some social justice points with our taxes and it failed because it’s creepy as hell. “I’m gonna sculpt big metal orange trees but the branches will be shaped like black dudes heads”. Just plant orange trees for homeless.

$3M on this Dollar Tree Duplo sculpture and then Hobbs will be on social media posting about how she cares about the average citizen. AZ is turning into CA - I guarantee this “art installation” is ripe with money laundering and fraud. No one in their right mind would pay $3M for this absolute trash.

Valley Metro is a publicly funded transit authority supported by taxpayer dollars through local taxes, federal grants, and other government sources, making this taxpayer-supported spending. So, taxpayers still funded it. Wasteful!

The city loves spending money on "art". There was a prop a few years back to reallocate funds if they weren't spent. Because how they campaigned it, the measure lost. So, the city HAS to spend budgeted money for each category instead of sliding extra "Arts" money to "Education"

Who approved? Who got paid? How much? Was it worth it? Will/has the recipient of the payment for the trees donated money back to those who approved? Just asking ?s.
