Paying a mortgage can’t be compared to paying rent in any way. Before I go into that, my question to the presenter is this: after stating your position, all I see you doing is telling people to rent instead of getting a mortgage. How does that benefit them in the long run? After years of paying someone else’s rent, what do they have to show for it? You argue that a mortgage isn’t wealth or is simply another way of paying rent to the bank. Firstly, I bought a home for £230k, refurbished it, and 15 years later sold it for £380k. You do the maths. My final question is: what’s the alternative to paying a bank through a mortgage? If you believe people shouldn’t buy a home, what practical alternative are you suggesting that helps them build long-term financial security?

Taxes are passed down to rentals. A primary residence isn't an investment but is way better than renting if done right. I'm not trying to get away from my kids, if they can get a free ride. Great, if not I'll be doing my best to make sure they don't start off with a debt burden

For me, I don't agree with this man. because if I bought the house from the bank and when I'm done paying the mortgage from the bank at least i can sell the house again and take my money.

Yeye analysis! If you remain a tenant for 25 years, when you'd have paid off the mortgage & own the house, you successfully worked your entire life to help someone else payoff his/her mortgage. To sustain their investment, landlords don't encourage people to buy their own homes.

Mortgage (when structured properly) provides you with three things: 1.) Appreciation 2.) Depreciation (tax benefit) 3.) Cash flow Rent in the other hand is like running your tap water in the sink with all the drains wide open. You come with nothing and leave with nothing.

Required to make such a large investment? You pay the loan off over time and you build up equity. At a future date you can either sell the property or pay it off. In addition, there are two types of mortgages, repayment and interest only. And both have investment strategies.

He is wrong cuz the bank technically doesn’t own the house although they funded the purchase. They have a lien on it but you own the house have full rights over it and additionally you can also sell and make some money cuz of increased value ov time so it’s kinda an investment.

At the end of the day you have to pay someone lol. The bank or another landlord but you have to Pay someone.
