Most Americans agree that those here illegally who commit crimes should be removed. But going beyond that to break up families who are working hard, paying taxes, and contributing to their communities isn’t where the country stands. What we need more of today is empathy and understanding.

This is a terrible take. You are basically arguing that paying taxes is the only qualifier to become an American. Not following the rules, not waiting in line like millions of others are doing. Nope. Just pay taxes and you're American. That's a disastrous point of view and epitomizes the suicidal empathy that eviscerates the very idea that we are a nation of laws. If laws are optional, why only immigration laws? Why not laws on theft? Rape? Murder?

"who are working hard, paying taxes" Since it is illegal to work without authorization, this is yet another crime, Just stop. They can work just as hard at home and quit sending billions out of our economy. What we need is more empathy for our CITIZENS. Not trespassers.

Right because that really got us a lot...... No illegal alien should be allowed to stay in the country any longer.... Deport them all or if they deport themselves they can get in line legally to come back

The American people were rightly frustrated during the Biden years, when we had open borders, allowing more than 10.5 million migrants to flood into the country. Over the last nine months, illegal border crossings have effectively stopped with net-zero crossings. Most Americans agree that we need to deport criminal aliens. I also believe that most Americans agree that if you have been in this country for a number of years, are working, have not committed crimes, and have children or grandchildren who are American citizens, there should be a legal path forward. This is not amnesty or a pathway to citizenship under any circumstances for anyone who broke our laws by coming to the United States.
