Honestly, this might be my favorite Burton movie. It’s not just visually stunning (that castle, the snow at the end ), but it has so much heart. The dog scene sums up the whole message: innocence and kindness see past the “monster.” Humans? Not so much.

That’s what makes it hit so hard. It looks simple, but it’s really about how quick people are to judge, while the ones who don’t judge see him for who he is.

I’ve always seen Edward Scissorhands as a metaphor for being genuine in a fake world. Edward is honest, the suburb isn’t, and that’s what makes him so lonely and misunderstood. That’s why scenes like this hit. Animals don’t care what you look like, they just feel what kind of person you are.

That’s honestly one of the best ways to look at it. Edward stays genuine the whole time, while everyone around him keeps judging based on appearances instead of who he really is
