Interestingly, Debbie Abrahams did not post this video on her social media accounts, it was shared on multiple Muslim WhatsApp groups. Also of interest, Debbie Abrahams MP has never spoken out this way against the gang rape of little White girls groomed at the gates of a school in her own constituency. What she has done though, is put her name to House of Commons letter headed statement attempting to aid in the cover up. She has also spoken in the House of Commons alongside Jim McMahon OBE MP where people in the town were branded as far right and racists. #PostOfficeScandal Exclusive report tonight on Channel 4 News by chief correspondent alex thomson Nanette van der Laan that reveal secret recordings from 2013 that prove beyond doubt that both Fujitsu UK & Post Office knew that remote access was possible & that it was being used on a daily basis, at the very least for overnight corrections. The report features Second Sight investigators Ron Warmington Ian Henderson who helped expose this injustice. We also hear from Lee Castleton OBE a Postmaster bankrupted by the Post Office, who still has the civil judgement hanging over him, no redress & no accountability for those responsible. Lord Arbuthnot was visibly angry & upset, saying that it now proves that Paula Vennells lied to him & UK Parliament in February 2015 before Business and Trade Committee Lord Arbuthnot is a man of total integrity & been one of the biggest drivers for justice for Postmasters. That man deserves a medal for all he has done, it is the worst feeling knowing you were deliberately misled and lied to when attempting to uncover an injustice on as grand a scale as the Post Office, once known as the UK’s most trusted brand. The major question left unanswered is what did Alwen Lyons & lead General Counsel Susan Crichton say to Paula Vennells. Why didn’t they speak up before now? They are just as culpable, how did Post Office maintain their position up until the GLO case in 2018/2019 that remote access was not possible? The final question is was Department for Business and Trade (previously BEIS) aware of these conversations in 2013? Because the reality is had the GLO case been de-railed as planned by the PO then these revelations wouldn’t be seeing the light of day and the cover-up would have succeeded. We now have confirmation of potential perjury, cover-up, contempt of Parliament & a miscarriage of justice, the biggest in British Legal history. THE FUJITSU WAY Ah yes, the now-famous defence from Fujitsu CEO Richard Christou: “Don’t worry, fitness for purpose was excluded.” Because obviously, when you commission a national accounting system handling billions in public transactions, the one thing you definitely don’t want is for it to be… fit for purpose. Perfectly sensible. Let’s admire the craftsmanship here: Remove the implied obligation for the system to work. Replace it with hundreds of pages of explicit obligations describing exactly how it must work. Then, when it doesn’t work, point back to the bit where you removed the label and say: “Ah — you see — no requirement for it to work.” It’s like buying a car where the contract says: “Engine must start, brakes must function, steering must respond…” …but also says: “By the way, we exclude any implied term that the car is fit for driving.” Car doesn’t start? Brakes don’t brake? Steering suggests rather than turns? No problem. “Fitness for purpose was excluded.” Brilliant. Even better when the High Court later observes the System was riddled with bugs, errors, and defects capable of causing phantom losses — but never mind that. Within days, more than 30 countries—including the UK, the US, Israel, Egypt, Ethiopia, and all five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council—formally recognized it. Crucially, #Somaliland was admitted to the United Nations as a full member on the very day of independence, under UN Resolution 141 (1960). Diplomatic notes were exchanged with the UK, and sovereign relations established. Five days later, in an ambitious but ill-fated experiment, Somaliland entered a union with the former Trust Territory of Somalia. But the union was never legally sound: Somaliland passed a “Union of Somaliland and Somalia Law” on 27 June 1960. Somalia passed a different “Act of Union” on 30 June. The two texts did not match and were never harmonized. Somaliland’s legislature never ratified the provisional Somali constitution. No valid treaty of union was ever deposited at the #UN, as required by Article 102 of the UN Charter. Yet, on 1 July 1960, Somalia presented itself to the world as the “continuation” of both states, effectively absorbing "impersonating," Somaliland’s independent UN membership. To many legal scholars, this amounted to a theft of sovereignty. Somaliland’s statehood was not legally dissolved, but politically sidelined. Impersonated at the UN What followed was decades of instability under the unified Republic of Somalia. The Somali state collapsed into civil war in 1991. From that moment, Somaliland quietly reasserted the independence it had briefly held in 1960. It built its own government, constitution, currency, judiciary, and armed forces. It has held multiple competitive elections judged free and fair by international observers. Unlike Mogadishu, which has struggled #terrorism, #piracy, and foreign interventions, #Somaliland has maintained relative peace and stability. It has acted as a de facto sovereign state for over three decades, yet remains unrecognized in the international system—a paradox born of a union that never legally existed. Why Recognition Matters Now Recognition is more than symbolism. It would unlock access to international financing, formalize Somaliland’s role as a regional security partner, and strengthen the UK’s diplomatic influence in the Horn of Africa. Unlike other self-determination cases, #Somaliland is not seeking to break away from Somalia—it is seeking to restore its rightful, documented independence. A BBC team questioned Jane MacLeod, who was the Post Office’s General Counsel between 2015 and 2019, while she was walking her dog outside her home in Sydney. She replied with “no comment” when asked why she wasn’t attending. She had been due to give evidence this week. “It’s unsurprising, but it speaks volumes,” says Jo Hamilton (Jo Hamilton ), one of the wrongly convicted former sub-postmasters. “If she was determined to help the inquiry, she’d be there,” she added. 'An important witness' Born in Australia, Jane MacLeod returned to live there in 2020. Last month Sir Wyn Williams, chair of the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry (Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry ), revealed that while Ms MacLeod had submitted a witness statement, she had decided not to give oral evidence, despite being asked to do so. The inquiry heard that the reason, offered by Ms MacLeod’s lawyers, was that given the passage of time, she considered her written statement was the best evidence she could offer. Since then, Ms MacLeod has not responded to BBC requests for comment. Sir Wyn said that even before seeing her written evidence, he’d decided that Ms MacLeod was “an important witness” from whom he wished to hear in person. He added that despite the offer to have her travel and accommodation expenses covered, Ms MacLeod “has made it clear that she will not co-operate with the inquiry by providing oral evidence”, either in person or via video-link. However, Sir Wyn explained that his options to force her to attend were limited because she lived abroad. Against all odds as both the Post Office and the Department for Business threw everything at the High Court GLO (as well as over £100m over taxpayer cash) and then attempting to recuse Justice Fraser for apparent bias, two landmark Judgements were handed down. Emma Simpson reporting for BBC News (UK) wrote :- Bates learned of knighthood at Post Office inquiry‼️ The campaigner and former sub-postmaster, Alan Bates, was at the public inquiry into the Post Office scandal when he received the news that he was to be knighted in the King's Birthday Honours. He had travelled from his home in Llandudno to hear former Post Office CEO Paula Vennells give evidence, breaking her near-decade long silence. “It was all a bit of a surprise,” Sir Alan, as he is now known, told the BBC. He was told that he had to let the Honours Committee know by the end of the day whether he would accept. For the last 15 years, Sir Alan has campaigned for justice for hundreds of sub-postmasters who were wrongfully prosecuted for theft and false accounting, when faulty software called Horizon made it look like money was missing from their accounts. He had already rejected the offer of an OBE last year, telling the Honours Committee that it would be inappropriate to accept it whilst Ms Vennells kept hold of her CBE for services to the Post Office and many victims continued to suffer. Ms Vennells handed back her CBE earlier this year amid mounting pressure in the aftermath of the ITV drama in January which sparked national outrage over the scandal. “I went and had a confidential talk with somebody who knows what’s gone on over the years and they said to me, 'well you’ve done the heavy lifting, others are doing the rest now.' And on reflection, I knew so many people who were keen for me to actually receive something, I felt I would be insulting them as much as anyone else if I refused it at this time," Sir Alan said. He insisted the honour was not just for him but also for his group, the Justice for Sub-Postmasters Alliance, which he started in 2009. “I think it’s another string to my bow to try and drive the rest of the campaign home. We have got to get funding for everybody. And that’s been my priority now for some time. And if it helps there, then great. It’s wonderful.” Sir Alan said his work was far from finished, adding that he would pursue court action, if necessary, to get financial redress for the victims who took part in the original High Court action that helped expose the Horizon IT scandal. “I think the nation will support us if we have to go ahead with another case,” he said. The former sub-postmaster's dogged pursuit of the truth began after refusing to accept losses at his own post office which he took over in 1998. Had he ever thought about giving up and letting it go? “I could never do that. We’ve all seen the horror stories, and there are so many. I keep hearing from so many more these days who are coming out of the woodwork and stories that have never been told. I mean, they’re absolutely diabolical. What’s happened to people is very sad but at least they’re now starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel for themselves.” He described his work as the best unpaid job he’d ever had and said he was looking forward to having a holiday this summer.
