He's wrong. The technology is part of the problem. He's describing people that have already learned how to learn. That's why mature people can learn complex topics digitally. Kids are still learning how to learn, therefore they need more tactile methods and sarcoplasmic brain exercise for retention and thought. They need things to touch and see and experience. The gadgets and digital presentations short circuit all of this and puts their mind in smartphone mode. They need to be hand writing, they need to be flipping pages, they need to be writing on the board, they need to be typing - all of these combined tactile methods help lock it in. The digital method in nothing more than the cheapest way to get them to the next grade and they have nothing to take with them.

Unpopular opinion: Flashy YouTube videos don't teach you anything. Give someone a test a day after they watched a mark rober video, they won't remember a thing. People use pop science to make themselves feel smart without actually doing the difficult work of learning something.

Ed-tech slop for the illusion of learning to pacify low-income families. Rich kids will never be given this. They will be given old school learning. Kids need, paper, pencils, books, and people.

That's an expected take from a guy who makes a boatload of money keeping people glued to his videos. The reality is: video is a very passive way to learn, and it doesn't engage the brain the same as reading, writing, or hands-on activities. @MrBeast doesn't seem to get this.

There's a reason teachers all have some form of degree. Creating videos for clicks without having to do any work to help the audience initially understand is far different than dealing with the day to day struggles of dozens of kids and making sure they are prepared.

Yhey’re not teaching kids, they’re just lecturing them. Real learning happens when students are engaged, not just sitting quietly. School should be about learning skills, not passing tests. The world has changed, but the classroom hasn’t.

I taught for 25 years. Things changed a lot. Students are absolutely NOT taught exactly the same way their parents were. Things would be better if we were using more of those time tested techniques. This line gets applause from people who haven't been in a classroom recently.

Would you want to be a teacher on your staff as a principal? I have often asked teachers, would you want to be a learner in your own classroom, but the question above for administrators could be even more critical. If we do not support those closest to students every day in an effective manner, it is much harder for things to improve in schools. If we want learning to look different in classrooms, then leadership must also evolve. This doesn’t mean that everything done in the past has been wrong. Some things that mattered 50 years ago will matter now, both in learning and leadership. But replicating everything that was done in the past, whether it was effective or not, isn’t a great strategy for moving schools forward. I was blessed to learn from some amazing principals in my career, but I also learned about things that I hated as a teacher and swore that I would do my best not to replicate those strategies. I wrote this in my upcoming book co-authored with Allyson Apsey (Allyson Apsey) titled, “What Makes a Great Principal”: “If we do things in our schools and classrooms that were done hundreds of years ago that still work today, we should continue to do them. On the other hand, if we do new stuff just because it is new, but it doesn’t work, we shouldn’t be doing it. Whatever works for our community is where our focus should be, no matter when it originated.” What worked in the past? What would you change? What would you have wanted as a teacher, and how can you make that happen? Simply replicating the strategies of the past, whether good or bad, will not necessarily lead education to a better future. Innovation is crucial to leadership as much as it is to teaching and learning.

This is extremely serious “The literacy crisis is worse than you think it is. I'm an ex-high school history and government teacher” She explains most students cent read past a 4 letter word and students fail consistently at spelling their own name correctly, in high school…. “It's not just that the kids can't read. I mean, they can't. If it's longer than a 4 letter word, then go ahead and count that as a loss. They don't know how to capitalize. They don't know how to punctuate. They can't write more than a paragraph. Honestly, a paragraph is generous, but it's more than that. They have no reading comprehension. They have no critical thinking skills. They can't read an article or a paragraph and pull out critical information in order to help answer a question. And I know a lot of you are thinking like, "Well, you're the teacher. That's your job is to teach them how to do those things." And it's like, well, actually, I'm a high school history teacher. They are past the point of me teaching them how to read higher than an elementary school reading level. My job isn't to teach them how to read. That was the teachers before them. And I'm not blaming them either — it's a much bigger problem than me just not teaching them how to read. I had a student in high school who could not consistently spell their name correctly on the paper. Literally, I would get it, and it'd be spelled different every time and obviously not right every single time. And when I mentioned that I think that they should be in the special ed classroom rather than my high school world history classroom, I was told that I don't know about inclusivity” “No Child Left Behind has really, really hurt the education system — There is going to be a noticeably huge gap in generations when it comes to literacy, in advancements in our society because there's no reason that the majority of the students I taught cannot read or write above elementary school level, honestly”

It has been reported that at-home learning enrolments in Queensland have increased by 229% in the past five years. Today there are 11,250 students being homeschooled in the state. Parents are pulling their kids from Queensland schools in unprecedented numbers, and here’s why: · Bullying, which is no longer confined to the playground but entering every victim’s home via social media · Poor academic records and performance, and · Woke, activist teachers and school curricula. The nation’s largest homeschool education provider said parents consistently say they’re dismayed at what’s being taught – and what’s not being taught – in Queensland schools. These parents deserve a pat on the back for taking a keen interest in their kids’ education and shielding them from the indoctrination taking place in our schools. Students must be educated, not indoctrinated. Students should be taught how to think, not what to think. They shouldn’t be forced to recite acknowledgements of country, touching their hands to the ground. They shouldn’t be taken out of school to attend protests. Any teacher that indoctrinates children should be sacked and never permitted to teach in Australia again. They can always get a job with a Greens senator who will happily indulge their woke extremism and hatred of Australia. One Nation is taking an education policy to the Queensland state election that will stop this indoctrination of innocent children. We’ll focus on the basics to improve literacy and numeracy. We’ll reward teachers whose classes achieve good academic results. And we’ll put parents at the centre of education decision-making, ensuring they have a meaningful say in what their kids are taught.
