Elon Musk: At this point, education is mostly a social experience. You don’t actually need school to learn anymore. With AI, you can learn just as much—or more—on your phone at home. School is becoming less about knowledge and more about being around people your own age. People should go to school today mainly for the social side of it. The learning itself? AI can already do that better. Conventional schooling could be vastly improved, and individualized AI teachers will outperform the one-size-fits-all classroom. This is the simplest way to understand square roots… and somehow most of us were never taught it. Instead of just memorizing that the square root of 9 is 3 because “3 times 3 equals 9,” this guy shows it visually. He draws dots in the shape of a square and explains that the square root is simply the length of one side of that square. Why didn’t they teach it like this when we were in school? It makes so much more sense when you can actually see it. Would you have understood square roots better if they were taught this way?

Would you want to be a teacher on your staff as a principal? I have often asked teachers, would you want to be a learner in your own classroom, but the question above for administrators could be even more critical. If we do not support those closest to students every day in an effective manner, it is much harder for things to improve in schools. If we want learning to look different in classrooms, then leadership must also evolve. This doesn’t mean that everything done in the past has been wrong. Some things that mattered 50 years ago will matter now, both in learning and leadership. But replicating everything that was done in the past, whether it was effective or not, isn’t a great strategy for moving schools forward. I was blessed to learn from some amazing principals in my career, but I also learned about things that I hated as a teacher and swore that I would do my best not to replicate those strategies. I wrote this in my upcoming book co-authored with Allyson Apsey (Allyson Apsey) titled, “What Makes a Great Principal”: “If we do things in our schools and classrooms that were done hundreds of years ago that still work today, we should continue to do them. On the other hand, if we do new stuff just because it is new, but it doesn’t work, we shouldn’t be doing it. Whatever works for our community is where our focus should be, no matter when it originated.” What worked in the past? What would you change? What would you have wanted as a teacher, and how can you make that happen? Simply replicating the strategies of the past, whether good or bad, will not necessarily lead education to a better future. Innovation is crucial to leadership as much as it is to teaching and learning.

She has students that she has written an incident report on every single day. She has contacted the principal and the support staff and the help that was given to her was to email the parents of the students. Basically, no help or support at all. We have many epidemics in our country but this is one of the biggest that doesn’t get enough attention. We all know our school system is a failure but even more than we know. Students these days have zero consequences. They are passed with straight F’s. They are allowed to be a continuing distraction and disruption in the classrooms and nothing is done about it. We need to start over. 💯 Why do we allow this this as a school? As a district? As a city? As a state? As a country? It didn’t use to be like this? This is why other countries surpass us in education, there is no discipline in our schools. Would you want to be a teacher in this day and age at a public school?

Even if AI can do in minutes what takes me hours or months, I still take pleasure in the craft and making something with my hands. I enjoy it, I love the process and feeling of creating on my own. Just because there’s a faster way to do it doesn’t mean you have to do it that way, especially if it doesn’t resonate with you.

I made an unfiltered video explaining how we solved the fundamental data and attendance problems in education. If teachers don’t come to school then students won’t learn and if students miss school, it will also affect their learning. When a child attends school 100% and still fail, then it’s the fault of the teacher. Our system tracks everyone and it’s extremely helpful for the government to track live data as well. Every child should be accounted for because they matter. Imagine a state government knowing exactly the number of children currently in school? That will be a no brainer. Decision making will be precise and transformative. I will continue to do my best to ensure that we fix education in Nigeria.

Ontario's schools need more adults. We need more EAs and more educators in our schools to keep students safe and help them learn. Children in Grade 6 were in Kindergarten when the Ford government took office. EQAO scores are on their watch, and this government is failing our kids. That is why Ontario-Liberals are calling on the Ford government to invest $1 billion in new education funding so boards can hire the staff students rely on every day. Students should not have to pay the price for underfunding. It is time to give them the support they deserve.

Modern education doesn’t make you smarter. It makes you easier to control. It’s why so many “smart” people can’t see what’s right in front of them. It’s why so many told you to “shut up” and take the vaccine. And things are this way for a reason. In 1903, a man by the name of John D. Rockefeller set out to redesign the American education system—not to create thinkers, but to manufacture obedient workers who would never question authority. As Mattias Desmet says bluntly: “Our education and our training at school maybe teaches us more to think like everybody else than to think for ourselves.” Once you read this, you’ll never think about school (or intelligence) the same way again. 🧵

I just have more knowledge now of how I would have handled the circumstance five years ago if I were in the same body and mindset I’m in now.
