We can & we will take it for granted.. it’s the mandate of any government to provide these constitutional norms.. with all due respect, This is not a service you’re providing to Kenyans, but a duty written down in your terms of service to Kenyans as enshrined & envisioned by our constitution. Being a public servant immediately puts you at debt to the public to provide & protect the rights of individuals as enshrined in & envisioned by the COK 2010.. 🤔 This is NOT 1980 tbh..

How is it conceivable that a government official should engage in, or seek to legitimise, such baseless assertions? Peace and stability in any constitutional democracy do not depend upon the identity of those who temporarily control the levers of government. They rest instead upon the independent institutions and normative framework that the Constitution itself establishes to guarantee these goods to the citizenry. The Constitution of Kenya, 2010, is explicit on this point. Its Preamble records the people’s determination “to live in peace and unity as one indivisible sovereign nation.” More precisely, Chapter Fourteen (National Security), Article 238(1) defines national security as: “the protection against internal and external threats to Kenya’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, its people, their rights, freedoms, property, peace, stability and prosperity, and other national interests.” Article 238(2) further subordinates national security to the authority of the Constitution and Parliament, and requires that it be pursued in compliance with the law and with the utmost respect for the rule of law, democracy, human rights and fundamental freedoms. Threats of the kind now being voiced find no warrant in this constitutional architecture. If the Constitution is experienced as a burden rather than as the supreme law that every State officer is sworn to uphold, the honourable course is resignation, so that those prepared to defend and implement it may lead.
