Absence of physical injury does not mean a patient has not been injured. He could have sustained some tissue damage, internal bleeding and even some sprains/ strains.

My conclusion, Bugingo is definitely an under cover officer in the church and he has military experience. Whatever happened could have been warning shots or the intention was to assassinate the SFC colleague.
