The Council of Europe is the living memory of Europe’s post-war promise: peace through law, and unity through shared values. We stand for diplomacy rooted in democracy, the rule of law and human rights. To be part of @coe is to share in that commitment. 🧵2/7

Every conversation today pointed to the same challenge: how to act together, across borders, when pressure is high and trust is fragile? For me, the answer starts with dialogue. We don’t have to agree on everything. But we have to stay engaged.🧵3/7

Of course, dialogue on its own is not enough. Principles must lead to action. We need institutions that translate values into standards, monitoring, cooperation, and reform. This is a shared project — and it depends on shared responsibility. 🧵4/7

Multilateralism is also a stabilising force. Political theorists speak of democratic security — the idea that institutions grounded in law and cooperation help societies absorb shocks without sliding into authoritarian shortcuts. That’s the kind of security we need now. 🧵5/7

To be part of something bigger is not to lose sovereignty, but to gain resilience. Multilateral frameworks don’t erase national agency — they amplify it, by creating space for coordination, support, and mutual accountability.🧵6/7

Multilateralism works — but not automatically. It takes trust, political will, and the courage to follow through. The tools are there. Let’s act. 🧵7/7
