Multiple presidents—Democrats and Republicans alike—have utilized detention centers to facilitate the removal of migrants. Here are those examples: • Reagan formalized more enforcement practices, including detention during asylum processing. Detention was used extensively during the Mariel boatlift in 1980. • George H.W. Bush used Guantanamo Bay as a holding...

Your whataboutism is glaring. Excusing what this admin is doing with respect to “Alligator Alcatraz” like you’re doing is appalling.

Anna Navarro wanted to say something then realized that you don't take any of her bullshit "facts" lol

This isn't about what other Presidents did. Why is that the primary line of reasoning or justification? Just have integrity and honesty. Admit this entire process has been poorly handled and it doesn't matter what other President's did.

It absolutely matters because it establishes that there is a precedent. Also, go back and read the articles/outrage at the time about those detention centers. The coverage is very similar.

🟠My largest single name equity position since $XOM in 2020… $GEO I have been accumulating a position for a few months. Some people I know are already familiar with the name, many are not. Michael Burry actually made headlines a year or two ago for initiating a position himself. The Geo Group is a private prison/detention facility operator that also provides “ATD” (Alternative to Detention) services such as GPS tracking devices and electronic monitoring. In the US alone they operate 50 secure facilities and 65,000 beds. They have contracts with the US Marshals and US Immigration and Customs (ICE). GEO is well positioned to benefit from the current immigration crisis, which I personally believe is the worst domestic crisis the US has faced in many years. It’s the leader and has market dominance in the Alternative to Detention space, with existing government contracts already. Their ATD solutions for illegal migrants/asylum seekers are more humane, cheaper (~25x cheaper to monitor per day than detain), and much easier to sell politically. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas gave a speech just this month (clip below) where he emphasized the need for more resources and funding for: detention beds, transportation, and yes… “Alternatives to Detention”. GEO is a clear winner in those efforts. Congress will soon pass the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Bill, and government leaders are currently negotiating the details for more border security. Regardless of who wins in their specific demands (Dems vs Reps), increased funding and efforts will benefit GEO. Large portions of HR 4367, the bill, has bipartisan support. This is directly from the text: “Ensure that every alien on the non-detained docket is enrolled into the Alternative to Detention Program with mandatory GPS monitoring though-out the duration of all applicable immigration proceedings (including appeals) and until removal, if ordered removed.” The Administration pushed back on this, as expected, but Democrats have since shown they are in favor of ATD in place of detention/deportation. There are currently ~14 million illegal immigrants in the US with 3+ million on the immigration court backlog. The crisis also continues every single day. GEO also operates a transportation subsidiary that provides armed and secure transportation to ICE. This is a non-ESG business that was neglected due to political trends. Those politics have obviously now changed. It is a profitable company with a large MOAT. The company generates cash and has also been paying down debt. They own and maintain essential infrastructure that the government has ignored for years and is now in drastic need of. Their businesses, specifically ATD, is a critical service essential for public safety, national security and the humane treatment of illegal migrants/asylum seekers. This is especially true in an election year during a crisis. * This is not investment advice. Just sharing my opinion. Make your own decisions.

‼️TODAY IN TRENTON Another day, another torrid love affair between an unconstitutional bill & the Majority party. We've already stepped into this ring and gotten jabbed in the face. Now, the Majority's big idea is to climb back through the ropes & demand a rematch with your money. Seriously??? Federal immigration detention authority has been the law for nearly THREE DECADES. An inconvenient truth: President Bill Clinton (not President Donald J. Trump DJT) signed the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996. GOP, Dems, and the courts alike have enforced & upheld it. Thirty years should be enough time for the sponsor to grasp the concept. But not in Trenton! When the progressive herd couldn't block immigration detention in court, they now try this. Only one wee little problem: WE CAN'T LEGALLY OBSTRUCT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BY TAXING ITS CONTRACTOR INTO OBLIVION. So how exactly does NJ get around federal law, the CoreCivic decision, and that pesky Supremacy Clause? Short answer: WE DON'T. And get this: the bill designates a "Detention and Deportation Defense Initiative Support Fund" designed to bankroll legal services tied to detention & deportation proceedings. Their plan is to tax detention & then use the proceeds... to fight detention. To make matters worse, the bill sponsor never answered the constitutional question because there is no answer. Instead, we got a rambling word salad of grievances, feelings, and unrelated talking points that ignored the law. At this point, I'm not convinced the sponsor read her own bill, or maybe she's hoping to find a judge willing to ignore the Constitution so this steaming pile can limp across the finish line. How much of your money was spent paying lawyers to defend the last losing argument? Apparently, losing wasn't expensive enough the first time. Trenton's biggest obstacle isn't the private contractor. It's the Constitution. NJ Assembly GOP NJ Assembly Democrats Governor Mikie Sherrill Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin Thomas D. Homan
