JUST IN: 'Praying grandma' Rebecca Lavrenz has reportedly been found guilty by a DC jury after she briefly entered the Capitol on J6. Glad to see our 'justice system' going after some "hard-hitting criminals." Lavrenz spent 10 minutes inside the Capitol and was seen praying outside of the building for an hour. Lavrenz is on film peacefully walking around the Capitol building and was spotted speaking with a police officer. She is allegedly facing a $210,000 fine and faces one year in jail. Rebecca De Mornay on what makes her character in "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle" (1992) memorable: "I was scared out of my mind by some scenes in "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle" (1992). I was deeply disturbed by the character I was portraying. There is a lack of great roles for women, and this is definitely a great role. I really went out on a limb with this film. But after I read the script, I was haunted by it. I intuitively felt that I could make a real contribution to the film, that I could deepen this character with humanity. After all, a villain is really only interesting when three-dimensional, and it's rare you play a villain who comes with some inbuilt sense of sympathy." Rebecca Newberger Goldstein discusses the "Mattering Instinct," the topic and title of her new book, with Armen Shirvanian (Armen). Rebecca Newberger Goldstein (Rebecca Newberger Goldstein): In this mattering instinct, I’m talking about something else, and it’s ultimately to prove to ourselves in our own lives that we’re living a meaningful life. This is where the notions of meaningfulness and existential crisis and the absurd, and all of these kind of more philosophical ideas, come into play in the kind of mattering that I’m talking about. This mattering comes to us by way of our capacity for self-reflection, when we can step outside of ourselves and think, gee, I spend an awful lot of time paying attention to myself. I automatically feel I’m deserving of my own attention. I automatically feel that I matter. But do I really? That is a very human question, and only we ask it. It’s how she gained the name ginger queen so I know the older fans know what I’m talking about. I think Freen is her top priority, so she’s very careful what she shares with the public because some ppl have proven to be untrustworthy with the girl’s love so she chooses to only share it with those she trust. It’s not enough to just survive and flourish like the other creatures on Earth. We have to justify to ourselves our right to survive and flourish. Eagleman: So, Rebecca, if a listener felt that his or her life didn’t really matter to themselves or to other people, what would you say to them after having written this book? Goldstein: We really do all matter. I think that’s what we’re talking about when we talk about the intrinsic dignity of the human. So people really do need some kind of battery project. Whether they collapse it into their need for connectedness, or they have such a temperament that they need other things, I think that they should, first of all, you know, really think about what it is that would make them feel that they mattered. Is it closer connections with others? Might be. Is it some sort of creative outlet? Might be. Maybe it’s spirituality. It’s hard to be human.
