Murphy: I would remind the president that he can't take any offensive action against Iran without coming to congress first. The constitution requires him to get an authorization of military force from congress. I don't think that he'll get that authorization from this congress, because there is opposition on both the Republican and Democratic side to the United States getting dragged into another potentially disastrous conflict in the Middle East.

This included President Obama, when he attacked Libya and overthrew Gadhafi. For 47 years, Iran has waged war on America, killing thousands of Americans. Recently, Iran's supreme leader threatened to sink American ships--and worse. Maduro was not a legitimate president of Venezuela. It’s a good thing he’s gone. But it matters how we go about this. Our Constitution and the War Powers Act require the president to come before Congress and get authorization to use force. President Trump has not done that.
