Music for the game "Commando" (1985) for Commodore 64. Sound card space was limited--only 3 voices!--so each voice performs multiple musical roles. For example, the top voice does both the melody and bass drum. Rob Hubbard composed and coded this!

Crazy what a difference it can make if the composer was willing to really dig in. I still like the NES setup just because I think simplicity can be nice too!

I’ve always found it interesting how the limited sound cards on earlier game consoles and PC’s made strong melodic writing practically a necessity.

Giggling at the idea of performing this as a trio: 1st part could easily be done by a Violinist sitting at a bass drum using the kick every now and then
