Absolutely! I worked up north for a while. When I said ANYTHING, the first comment was “you’re not from around here, are you?”. The second was “let us explain this” (because you’re obviously too dumb to understand it).

A friend and her husband who were from TN moved to VT for his job. She looked for a job in town and struggled to he hired. She told me, “They think I'm stupid because of my accent.” It hurt her, because she's not only very intelligent, but a real workhorse and sweet woman.
