My stand on Telangana and the interests of its people has always been consistent. Following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, while certain law and order concerns were raised, I clearly opposed the implementation of Section 8, as I believed it would undermine the self-respect and right to self-governance of the people of Telangana. I have always maintained that respecting the aspirations and rights of the people of Telangana is as important as addressing the security concerns of the people of Andhra Pradesh. Instead of invoking provisions like Section 8, I believed that special coordination mechanisms, parliamentary oversight, and measures that build mutual trust between the two states would provide a more constructive and lasting solution. I have never supported politics that seeks to destabilize Telangana. My belief has always been in protecting the interests of the people of both Telugu states through mutual respect, peace, cooperation, and a spirit of brotherhood. #JaiBharat #JaiHind

As the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, the late Smt Sushma Swaraj ji, in her memorable speech on 5th August 2011, spoke with deep anguish about the young lives lost during the Telangana movement. She appealed that no son or daughter of Telangana should have to sacrifice their life for a democratic aspiration. Standing firmly with the people of Telangana, Sushma ji assured the nation that if the Government brought the Telangana State Formation Bill to Parliament, the BJP would extend its full support and help pass it. It has come to my notice that certain political actors are mischievously twisting my statement made during debate on Women Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha, specifically concerning the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill and the associated Telangana movement. First and foremost, I reject the deliberate insinuation being furthered by the Opposition, and firmly state my long-standing respect for the martyrs and protesters who sustained the Telangana movement. However, my comments must be seen as a reminder of how the Congress has traditionally betrayed the Southern states. In the case of the Telangana movement in particular, Congress’ betrayal has been stark. Starting with the police firing in 1969 that killed over 300 students and protesters, to nearly 1,200 deaths during the UPA years, the Telangana movement was built on the blood of martyrs who lost their lives due to Congress’ inaction. Even in 2013, the decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh was announced after internal deliberations within the Congress party, while completely sidelining key stakeholders. It is a well-established fact that those who built the agitation were blindsided. Congress’ flip-flopping resulted in hundreds of deaths, including 16 people who died by self-immolation. I have merely highlighted how grossly mismanaged and non-transparent the partition was, which was an affront to the struggles and sacrifices made by the people of Telangana. The reference to the division of the country was made to draw a parallel with how the Congress acted, similar to how the erstwhile British rulers handled the division of Bharat. In conclusion, I reiterate my utmost respect for the martyrs and protesters of the Telangana movement. Their grit and resolve against years of injustice must serve as a reminder to fight the same forces that are attempting to place the Southern states at a disadvantage even today. I also strongly condemn all attempts to misrepresent my remarks, which were only meant to remind the great people of Telangana of their painful history and the gross injustice they endured for decades under the Congress. I want to thank Hon Min Shri G Kishan Reddy Garu, for putting the facts back on the table and highlighting misdeeds of Congress vis a vis Telangana Movement.

YOU CANNOT MASK PUBLIC ANGER! This is how Telangana CM Revanth Reddy was “welcome” by the students of Osmania University campus today. All this anger stemmed from the fact that despite the tall promises of two lakh jobs per year, not a single job notification was given so far in the last two years of Congress rule in Telangana. It would have been nice if the CM sat down with protesters and heard them instead of having police bandobast & turning a deaf ear to the escalating situation. Osmania University isn’t a normal place. It is the birthplace for many agitations & student movements, including the very iconic Telangana statehood movement. Going by the sentiment on the campus today, things aren’t all rosy for CM Revanth Reddy’s government!

This is the first statue of Telangana thalli installed in wanaparthy by a strong Telangana supporter Mahesh.
