My contribution to this conversation is simple: the CFA program will humble you. You will cry. You will lament. You will question your life choices. You will bargain with God and start planning the thanksgiving service you intend to hold if you somehow make it to the other side.... All these videos were taken during my Level II preparation, but the third one stands out. I remember being in a hotel room during an engagement. We had spent the entire day with the client, from about 8 a.m. until almost 10 p.m. By the time I got back, I was completely exhausted. Any reasonable person would have gone straight to bed. Instead, I took a shower, opened my CFA materials, and continued studying because the exam was approaching and CFA does not care that you’ve already worked a full day. There were days I was running on pure stubbornness. The kind of period where your prayer points become very specific: “God, if I pass this exam, the thanksgiving will be massive.” Level II showed me real pepper. You will read a concept today, understand it perfectly, solve questions on it, and feel on top of the world. By next week, you have forgotten everything and you’re starting from scratch again. You keep reading. You keep forgetting. You read it again. You forget it again. The cycle continues. CFA Level II will have you asking yourself if your brain is still functioning properly, jare. 😂 As for Level III, I am currently in the stage of fear and mental preparation. I know what it represents, so I am respectfully giving myself time to breathe before I enter that arena. For now, the books and I are just looking at each other from a safe distance. 😭 P.S. don’t mind my reading style. I almost always have music playing in the background while studying. I’m trying to compute the last couple days and honestly I’m absolutely fucking shattered. You have been my North Star for everything for as long as I can remember from when I was misunderstood as a child to the way people thought I was just a little “too much” or “strange” in my life and career. I owe so much to you, your wife and your family - you all gave me a road to run down and supported me when people would turn their nose up. You loved life so much and you adored music. It was your smile man. You taught me it was beautiful to be out of the box. Today, I have left my heart in Gaza and taken my fragile body outside it. For 560 days, I have never stopped and have done over my energy to tell the truth and report our pain from my hometown. The story has come to a temporary end. I never ever imagined I would be at such an impossible decision, to leave my family behind and depart for medical treatment and care. My body, since Israel’s ongoing blockade, has become constantly weaker. And since I haven’t found my medicine either, I was plunged into my guilt zone and decided to go. With this sentiment comes relentless emotional pain. As a young man, I always dreamed to report on football. I was let down many times, instilled doses of courage into me to overcome the challenges, and fought hard to be that dreamer. But once Israel started its genocide, I put everything aside and picked up my weapon to begin reporting tirelessly hour in and hour out. Maybe, I haven’t done enough and wish I could continue until every inch is rebuilt, but my health has disappointed me this time. It couldn’t take that much horror and suffering. My braves colleagues have stayed. They’re the best of the world. There was indeed a last drop of blood in my veins, and I didn’t want to spend it nowadays. I desire to recharge, grow stronger, and come back to defend my homeland with aplomb and unmatched love. As I have always promised, I will die for the day Palestine will be free. My mother, my father, and my brothers and sisters, I have failed you. I miss you and will miss you in every second I will be out from Gaza. Love to you. My heart has remained with you and will never leave you. You’re my light in this whole darkness. That’s why I am shining. For my friends, it’s all about you. You are the companions of the journey. Even if we bid shot farewells, we will reunite and live together again. I want you to be very strong much more than when we were side by side. my new song “BREAKDOWN.” is out on the 21st of June!!! 🖤🖤🖤 I wrote this poem because it’s been the hardest year for my mental health. In my life I’ve always never felt good enough, it’s just the thing that’s eaten me up. For as long as I can remember i have felt constantly afraid of how quickly my head can turn dark. It’s always been so hard to fight the darkness that i inevitably have. A lot of people will say it’s a phase and it will go away. But it doesn’t and the reality of the situation is I have to find strategies to deal with it. To put it plainly the things I don’t like about myself will probably never change, people tell me one day I’ll come-to terms with them one day but I want that day to be FUCKING NOW. This song is a message to myself to try and exist alongside my insecurities and my darkness by grounding myself and remembering what is real in life and the world is so much bigger than me. Try and get out of your head and notice the world around you, notice the things and people around you. Connect with them, the chances are they probably feel the same. Don’t let the bullshit inside your head consume you. It just wastes precious time. Remember what is real. Help people, be kind, help the world, help yourself. If you think you can’t do it, you can. You can get through this, trust me. Use this poem in a mornin to get u out of bed, use it when youre about to back out of something last minute, use it when you’re at your darkest. My son, One day, when you're older, you will come across this post and this video of the two of us walking up into the mountains. I hope you watch it more than once. We always begin the same way. You go bounding off ahead, certain the whole mountain belongs to you, and for a little while it does. Then the path gets steep. The air gets thinner and your legs get tired. You stop, you turn, and you look back at me and say: Dad, is the view really worth it? I will tell you a secret. I ask myself the same question. I'm climbing my own mountains you can't see yet, fighting things I hope you never have to fight, and some days the weight of it all feels like more than I can carry. Mom and I both put on a brave face, but it isn't always brave underneath. There are mornings I feel I am carrying the whole mountain rather than walking up it. But that's not a flaw in you or me, it just is what the journey is. You will meet climbs that burn your legs, there will be days when every step asks more than you think you have, and there will be MANY MANY times when turning back seems the only sensible thing thing to do ...don't be ashamed of wanting to. Everyone wants to turn back. But WANTING to turn back, and not doing it... well my son, that is the stuff strength is made of. There will be days when everything feels uphill. When the world feels unfair, and you’ll wonder why it has to be so hard. The summit will never stoop to meet you and the path cannot be talked into being shorter. What changes... what is changing in you even now while you're reading this, and especially on days that feel like nothing but insane amount of work and heartache... ...is YOU. You are the thing that grows. The world stays gloriously, stubbornly large, and you rise to meet it. So climb. Not because it is easy, but because you were made for the climbing. And when at last you stand in the high place with the wind in your face and the whole green country spread beneath you, you will understand something that cannot be told to a man but only shown to him: that every aching step was a kind of payment, and the view was the thing it had been buying all along. Jawn, you should try putting your head down the toilet and getting someone to flush it. I thank God every single day that I didn't destroy my soul chasing your trends. I refused to break my chastity despite being in a long term relationship. I can still truly love someone, thank God I am a virgin. You on the other hand, cannot. You'll never get that back.
