@thsottiaux The model picker should not go away..they should have a basic version of chatgpt and a power user one where there's more control. That simple

Thank you to our wonderful sponsors @WorkOS and @DeveloperXM for supporting the podcast: 🏆 @WorkOS — Make your app Enterprise Ready, with SSO, SCIM, RBAC, and more: 🏆 @DeveloperXM—Engineering intelligence for the AI era: Also available on: • Spotify: • Apple:

@thsottiaux Getting rid of the model picker and going back to routing would be another mistake. Hiding it behind a setting is one thing, but if they were to get rid of it completely (and hide intelligence behind obscurity) my faith in OpenAI would be completely lost. I really hope they don't

@thsottiaux Did you ask him why he fucked over the 200$ subs?

@thsottiaux most actions on the internet taken by agents means somebody's finally gonna read the terms of service lmao

@thsottiaux model picker being removed would be a subscription cancel for me personally, unless we can still choose it in settings

@thsottiaux Great interview, thanks!

@thsottiaux the picker going away makes sense, most people just leave it on whatever was default anyway

@thsottiaux The model picker was the whole UI.

@thsottiaux auto mode would be such a game changer. currently just running everything on astra ultra fast as i'm too lazy to pick

@thsottiaux seems like you are in openai

Combining Chat and Work modes is a massive step backward for power users. Chat is for open-ended brainstorming. Work is for isolated, multi-step execution on specific data assets. Merging them means losing conversational nuance, context pollution, and hitting agent limits way too fast. Keep the boundaries clear! 🛑 #AI @ajambrosino Chat is not ment to work, we do not all code! @victornunez @techwithhannahm @reach_vb @thsottiaux @JustinBleuel @ajambrosino @angelbrodin @kundan2510

@thsottiaux 👀

@thsottiaux why the model picker exists, because nobody can name their models

@thsottiaux The model picker going away can't come soon enough. I build a language learning app, and nobody reading a Spanish article wants to pick a model. They want that one sentence explained at their level, and that's the only setting that matters.

@thsottiaux Yeah, he also thought people would actually be OK with a 50% usage cut so maybe he’s not the person to actually listen to.

@thsottiaux What's the story with Thibaut's glasses?

@thsottiaux model picker going away makes sense, most people just want the thing to work. curious if that means more silent fallback when one model fails a task

@thsottiaux The model picker going away is the right call. Asking users to choose a model is asking them to do the product team's job.

@thsottiaux Looking forward to the agents part. If most actions end up taken by agents, the first pages a small business would want to tidy are the price page and the booking page, since an agent reads those before any person does.

@thsottiaux Readable version and summary of Lenny’s Podcast with Tibo Sottiaux (OpenAI Head of ChatGPT):

@thsottiaux Most actions on the internet being an agent is a strange thing to put next to removing a dropdown.

@thsottiaux When the model picker disappears, the real UI becomes the permission surface. People won't choose Opus vs GPT — they'll need to see what the default agent can touch before it acts. #AIAgents #OpenAI

@thsottiaux Agents taking most actions on the internet is the part that changes commerce the most. Checkout, search and support all get redesigned for a buyer who never sees the page.

@thsottiaux role graphs are dying. Work graphs are shaped in part by the work. A better model can work through a graph shaped like the work more efficiently. But that work state is best embedded in the work itself. And the work doesn't stop at software engineering.

@thsottiaux Really resonating with the expansion / shrinking cycle and feeling that pain now. I built my flow around needing to coordinate limited resources (AWS accounts!) and with the latest generation I have to re think that. It’s my limiting factor.

@thsottiaux The model picker disappearing makes sense if the system can explain the tradeoff it made. I still want an escape hatch when latency, cost, or privacy matters.

@thsottiaux The UI disappearing is the bullish part. Once the agent can choose the model, the product moat moves from menus to outcomes.

@thsottiaux model picker going away is the right call tbh. half of us just pick whichever model has the most usage left 💀

@thsottiaux Loops and graphs will fade when models master direct reasoning chains without intermediate steps that consume tokens.

@thsottiaux 给我总结下这几个问题的答案,从视频里@grok

You’ll shell out your hard-earned cash for a monthly subscription, thinking you’ve got the reins to pick and choose your model, your reasoning effort—all tailored to your whims and tasks. But hold on tight, my friend! The moment you dive in, you’ll be smacked with the harsh truth: our AI overlords have it all figured out, and they don’t give a damn about your freedom to choose. Welcome to the carnival of control, where the house always wins.

@charliermarsh @thsottiaux finally✔️

@thsottiaux If most actions on the internet end up taken by agents, the gap nobody has filled yet is attribution. Sites log which account did something, not whether it was you or something acting for you, and that difference starts to matter the first time an agent gets it wrong.
