Yep! So much of this resonates with me! Though it took me a few years of teaching, lol.

A great reflection. And schooling in the UK can also concentrate on passing on k owledged useful to pass an exam without actually getting students to enquire and think for themselves. This is largely due to 1. Time constraints and 2. The way that success in teaching is measured.

“Math class is just putting vocabulary to things that can be noticed.” I’m using this in the future. Thanks, Howie!

I love this idea, Howie! I’m teaching rational functions next week. To start off the lesson I think I’m going to show them some graphs and ask them what they notice. I’ve been struggling to get my students to think as well. Thank you!

Right on!

Great story

I like you. This was good!

Howie it would have been awesome if you were my math teacher back in the day …. this is what I needed to inspire me to the next level

This is a great story to share. I totally relate. That being said, it was a really great teaching approach in theory. I'm glad it at least resonated with that one student.

"Tell me what you see here". I'll use that a lot.
