HOW IS HE MAKING ME LOVE MY FAVORITE GAME EVEN MORE??? I’ve played this like 6 times and I always just perceived this as wow that silly girl we met in the forest was actually so different & turned out to be a princess I never even considered that it was literally a parallel of Shulk from the beginning of the game. My mind is actually being blown man oh my godddd — I truly did not think this game had more left for me to love 😭

William got margin called and pledged over $1B of his own stock to fund Column. He explains why extreme personal risk is what makes great founders, and why we see less of it today: "I think that the good founders bet on themselves and take an extreme amount of risk to do that. The extreme amount of risk part is something that we no longer have. But when there's literally only one door in front of you. You don't have a choice, and that fear and innate desire creates another part of you. It creates creativity, it creates inspiration. It's extremely valuable part of the founder journey. And in many ways, Silicon Valley we've actually removed that. I don't know why we don't talk about it more. If you go back to pre 2008, you're on the edge of the knife. We don't create environments where a founder has to bet themselves. I think starting companies are just too f**king safe. It's caused a lot of companies to be super safe companies like, we're gonna pivot to AI...that's not bold, that's not ambitious. It's because we are attracting founders that actually want to be employees. They don't think if I don't pull this off, I'm going to become bankrupt. My life is over and I think that's pretty healthy. That's when you bring out the rawness of humanity and I don't see that very much anymore. The weird thing is an early stage employee takes way more risk than an early stage founder. And I don't think we should actually de-risk the early stage employee. I just think we need to increase the risk for founders. I think we need to make failure much more expensive."

What did Michael Jordan think about 3-point shooting? “My 3-point shooting is something that I don’t want to excel at, because it takes away from all phases of my game. My game is a fake, drive to the hole, penetrate, dish off, dunk, whatever, and when you have that mentality, as I found out in the first game, of making threes, you don’t go to the hole as much. .Naval on Finding Technical Co-founders Join the conversation: "It's getting harder and harder because these days those people just go and start their own company. So what do you bring to the table that a good technical co-founder would not have? That's number one. And that would either mean you have some particular deep insight and relationships into a market and you have capital because you've got to bring a lot to the table because you're not creating the product anymore. Or secondly, you have to have a relationship that's pre-existing. You worked together before at some company or you've gone to school together. Outside of those cases, it's incredibly hard to recruit a quality technical co-founder. And I'm not even sure you're in a position to start a company. This is why so many companies come out of universities or come out of the Bay Area because there you're just very likely to have business founders and technical founders next to each other. The business founders at least have enough technical experience that they can properly evaluate the technical co-founder. And then the business founder has to hustle and raise money, recruit people, have a vision, have a customer base, have a market ready to go, and have proven themselves. And now lots and lots of other things to balance out the skills a technical founder brings to the table. There are now more successful cases of solo technical founders starting companies than there are of solo non-technical founders starting companies. So it is an uphill climb. I'm not going to sugarcoat it for you.”

Sam Altman on the importance of momentum and why burnout doesn’t come from working too hard “I was told, and I thought for a long time, that you get burned out from working too hard. At least in my own experience, what I’ve found is that burnout actually comes from failing and things not working.” Sam continues: “Momentum is really energizing. The lack of momentum is super draining. And I find that I have infinite energy to work on things that I find interesting and that are working, and almost none to work on things that I either don’t find interesting or aren’t working.” He offers the following advice to startup founders: “I think you see a lot of founders try something and fail, and they assume that they just can’t work hard enough or don’t have enough energy or passion or whatever. And that’s actually not true. It’s just that that thing didn’t work. And what you should do is shut that company down, go on vacation, and try again.” He concludes: “When you look at really successful people and say, How do they get all those things done? After 15 days of hard work, I'm happy to share my game for @levelsio's 2026 #vibejam The game is called Hollowlands and I'm trying my best on it. Learning a lot of new stuff in the process. My previous game development experience + AI is a powerful combination that I honestly think it's underexplored by many. What used to take weeks of development now is being done in days, allowing me to focus more on the creative part of the process. Next step: Integrating multiplayer using Colyseus ⚔️ by Endel who's also a fellow brazilian 🇧🇷

But however many we play, the whole tournament is a chance to create that magical feeling of unity, to lift each other's spirits and to show what we are capable of. “I am done with hatred, done with division and done with misplaced anger. 12 Years ago, I pioneered game marketing on a new platform called "Twitch" and on Youtube. The Twitch founders visited our offices and I was impressed. We integrated it into our game and I invested in creating "Firefall Live" which went on to be one of their most popular live events at the time. I also created Stage 5, our YouTube branch where we sponsored indie film makers and created our own videos. We "sponsored" each one with prominent ads. People said I was insane, that we should buy banner ads instead, that this new type of marketing was a waste of time. It didn't matter that analytics showed twitch and video were blowing away banner ads on views and impressions and stickiness. The ex-EA marketing guy I hired didn't get it and fought against it. He was wrong. Please enjoy one of my fav videos that we created in house. This was when Game of Thrones was at it's peak. "We are the North" is one of my fav refrains of the song. This video has 3.3M views and game companies today will spend anywhere from 50-150k to sponsor one of these videos today. It cost us around 10k to make. Good return, well ahead of it's time. Don't listen to AAA marketers. It's super obvious now I had it right.
