Eggshells are used in gardens as a source of calcium to enrich soil and strengthen plants, as a pest deterrent for slugs and snails, and for other uses like seed-starting pots and compost boosters. To prepare them, wash and dry the shells, then crush them to a coarse powder.

So this was cut short but we do this as it is a great boost of calcium for plants. Sprinkle this on your soils about once a week and it will really boost the growth. Our tomatoes were crazy this year as we had over 50 on just 4 tomatoes plants!

That’s a lot of unnecessary steps… this is what I do and my garden thrives! Use eggs; Save shells in a basket; When basket is full, line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper; Bake shells for 30 minutes in a 225° oven; Cool baked egg shells; Completely pulverize baked egg shells with bullet or food processor; Save pulverized egg shells in an old coffee container; Work pulverized egg shells into garden soil. I think washing them first you lose some nutrients from the natural eggs. I get a ton of yield from my peppers and tomatoes and I don’t use any other chemical fertilizer in my garden. Pulverized eggs shells, bone meal, and blood meal, and sweet Timothy grass chicken coop waste tea. My garden thrives.

Beyond the obvious that this is just stupid... so you are telling us you can afford a Nutribullet smoothie maker but you do not own a funnel?

I feed mine back to my chickens in their food, so they have calcium and stronger shells.

Perfect hack if you suspect your child is a changeling and you want to catch it out, according to ancient Celtic folklore. Not sure how many people still believe in fairies, though. Much more sensible to just toss them in the garden or compost.

use it for what?

Yeah…… don’t eat egg shells. You can use them in gardens. Fish tanks, and add to like compost bins to remove bugs. But they are so rich in calcium that I can’t imagine it being good for you. Plus salmonella risk. Just eat the egg.
