This is great. Too bad I won't remember one of them when the time comes.

The trick
What if I don't have a green rope? Can I use a white one?

Unless the trick is how to buy a house for the price of a ham sandwich I am not interested

Thieves should not see the padlock

You're in Africa, shut up

The X post you linked ( from @GraceGym_ is a viral car maintenance **life hack video** with the caption: "My grandpa showed me this trick and it changed everything ❤️" It's a compilation-style clip showing quick, "genius" DIY tricks for engine bay work (common in car repair TikTok/X trends). From the visuals and typical content in these: - Using wrenches or tools to hold/position components (like loosening/tightening bolts without full access). - Tricks for routing wires, securing hoses, or removing/installing parts like oil caps, belts, or sensors with minimal tools/effort. - One highlighted part: "My grandpa showed me this trick" overlaid on hands working in the engine compartment (e.g., using a wrench to pry or hold something cleverly, avoiding stripped bolts or awkward angles). The video promises these will "save you so much time!" and is framed as old-school wisdom from grandpa that's still relevant. It's racked up millions of views (over 3M+), 10k+ likes, thousands of bookmarks — people love these practical, no-BS hacks. Comments/replies vibe is mixed but mostly positive/engaged: - Lots of praise: "Grandpa tricks are always undefeated 😭🔥", "This is great", "Nice", "wow it's great 👍" - Some practical questions/jokes: "What if I don't have a green rope? Can I use a white one?", skepticism like "What a stupid bullshit" or "You should never stretch a belt over a sheave, it can damage the cords" (pointing out potential risks in belt installation tricks). - Humorous or off-topic: Memes/gifs, "Grandma be like 🤣", "Thieves should not see the padlock" (random), or people sharing their own versions. - A few critical/safety notes: Warnings about improper techniques (e.g., damaging belts by forcing them on without loosening tensioners first). - Overall lighthearted — people sharing laughs, thanks for the tip, or admitting they'll try it (with some "unless it's buying a house cheap, not interested" jokes). Classic viral "grandpa hack" energy: wholesome nostalgia + useful tips + a dash of debate on whether it's actually safe/best practice. If "just shut comment" means summarizing or closing the loop on replies like before — yeah, they're flooded with appreciation for old-timer wisdom, a bit of roasting/skepticism from mechanics, and zero major drama. Pure helpful chaos! 🛠️🚗 If this is one you wanna try or need details on a specific trick shown, lmk! 😄

Your grandpa didn’t show you any of that. Stop lying for clicks.

The belt rope must be green else the hack will fail!

You should never stretch a belt over a sheave, it can damage the cords in the belt. Loosen the pulley or the tensioner, install the belt then bring the belt to its proper tension. This is about a 1/4” of deflection per foot of distance between sheaves.

Yup couple of things there to keep in yer back pocket

How'd that bottle body slide down over the powerstrip if it was hanging on a screw?
