It's just a song from an ordinary bloke who hasn’t given up on Britain yet. 🇬🇧 — James Stuart Mullen

How profound and sincere. I wish I had your heart and brain. I subscribe to the old Stephen Stills lyric: "If you can't be with the one you love, honey, love the one you're with." 🙃

Thank you good sir. And no, you probably don't. It's a burden if I'm honest. 🤝

If that is the case, then there is another old tune that has good advice: Once I rose above the noise and confusion Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion I was soaring ever higher But I flew too high Though my eyes could see, I still was a blind man Though my mind could think, I still was a mad man I hear the voices when I'm dreaming I can hear them say Carry on, my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more

It will be an honour. I look forward to it. I am also honoured by the praise I get from French people. Considering I know people who simply travel to France for nothing other than a holiday, I feel a deep sense of warmth that the actual, real people of France connect with me on a personal level.

You have your own special way of presenting the culture of your country, whether it is popular or ''high''. It is a blend of knowledge and reflections that come from the heart and from personal experience. And whether you like it or not, you speak French ! Dieu et mon droit !

I was in one of our national parks last week and it was so profoundly beautiful. I was reminded of Rupert Brooke, If I should die, think only this of me: That there's some corner of a foreign field That is for ever England. To lie at rest in an English landscape must be the best outcome for any of us: an English man for ever in beloved England.

@DeanSmi47962704 Words well spoken, Vinnie. Yes, she's in decline, but we won't leave her bedside until she recovers. History shows us, she always does.

Perfectly put. I read Orwell’s ‘England your England’ - very good.

It's true on both counts. Loyalty is a curse of mine, and the land, like a woman I love, will always be the greatest on earth over everywhere and everyone else. So, when I spend time with a woman I love, in the land I love, the combination is an overwhelming surge of emotion that combines, and strengthens my dedication towards both of them.

Beautiful. To feel that connection is amazing. For you but for the woman in your life that feels the same and benefits from the whole that you feel. ♥️

Well, in today's world, they're often damaged in one way or another, and therefore damage the men who care for them. Thus, when they're gone, the land seems especially sad to see or traverse, just as it's especially beautiful when they're around.

A lot of us have things happen that scar us, making it hard to know how to move on. We, after this hurt/experience, try to navigate love and life. Me, I’ve not done great 8 years after my separation. Damage you see! But I’m still hopeful and still love this country also

When they forsake and replace men, they take part of us we never gets back. And, the men who are lucky enough to meet someone loyal without having to suffer at the hands of the disloyal, tend to have the best lives on earth. Either way, to me, their presence, or absence of any said woman makes a difference as to how I look at the land itself.

We visited some beautiful old gardens yesterday. It was the only place we've visited recently where we didn't see one immigrant. A stunning little village with impressive architecture but just a few minutes drive up the road was an unsightly massive warehouse that blocks & dominates the view. It was built in blue & white in an attempt to blend in with the skyline but it still stood out like a sore thumb. How they managed to get building permission in such beautiful surroundings just goes to show the level of corruption we're up against. It must infuriate the locals who have to use that road daily.
