For one day, some of your friends were scared to walk on the streets of London. That day was the only day of the year friends of mine felt safe to walk on the streets of London. They avoid Notting Hill Carnival because it's dangerous. They avoid the weekly Hamas marches because they are intimidating and racist. They avoid visiting unless essential because of the rampant crime on the streets. So I suggest you have a word with your friends, because their one day is nothing compared to the 100s of days that the majority of the population of this country feel anxious on the streets of our own capital city.
