Those two minor chords are just the relative minors of the major chords in the song. The sixth (the difference between a major chord and its relative minor) is already in place in the melody. You can do this to a lot of songs and it'll work.

Almost all EDM is produced in minor keys to invoke such emotion or feeling, but also when crashing two songs together in a mix? Minor keys clash much less, less dissonance is better feelz (for the most part) rarely but sometimes dissonance is used on purpose to wobble baselines but that is typically intentional. Reminds me of Maynard James Keenan's minor-key cover of Imagine. Completely recontextualizes the concept of the song. Interesting that both involve a reframing of "freedom" as a negative; I believe this reflects a subconscious acknowledgement that excess freedom is actually just chaos, and that we need to balance freedom with enough discipline and duty to uphold the structures that enable and provide for freedom in the first place.

Haha amazing. I had this happen with a painting. I made a painting in a dream, the colours, composition and everything. Looked exactly how I'd want. Wrote it down in detail when I woke up. Still haven't been able to paint it due to injury but it's still vivid in there! That progression sounds really good btw.

You should check out Jacob Collier. Watch a few of his videos. The queen song, the one he did with Chris Martin, and some other stuff. He didn’t learn traditionally. Take a deep dive on him and his skills and you won’t be disappointed!! He literally does things to songs that you think technically shouldn’t be!
