My mom passed peacefully at 1:11pm two days ago, surrounded by her three little birds, my sister, my brother, and me, holding her hand and stroking her head as we sang to her. The song Three Little Birds came on at just the right moment, like it was meant... for her. And it was. She took her final breaths wrapped in our love, with music, light, and presence guiding her home. She was the brightest soul I’ve ever known. A radiant artist. A lover of dance, beauty, color, and connection. She saw magic in people, even those she’d never met, and bridged the gap between hearts without hesitation. She made everyone feel seen. She brought joy everywhere she went. She taught me how to notice life, how to play, how to trust the light within me. If you’ve ever been touched by my love or joy, it was seeded by her. After she passed, we stayed with her. We thanked her spirit, and we thanked her body for holding so much love, for creating us, for doing its job beautifully despite everything. And as we left the room, we did what she would have loved most: we clapped and cheered for her. Because she deserved a standing ovation. I told her I’d see her in every rainbow. In every 11:11. In laughter. In applause. In astronauts. Even if she’d lived 30 more years, it wouldn’t have been enough. Two hundred wouldn’t have been enough. Infinity wouldn’t have been enough. That’s how special she is. I’m so grateful I got to walk this life so closely beside her. I love you, Mom. Always. Her light doesn’t end with her physical passing. Over the years, many of you have joined me in celebrating this truly special girl turned young woman, Maddie. I am heartbroken to share with you that Maddie has passed away at the age of 21. I’m sharing a glimpse into my friendship with Maddie because I want people to know how truly special she was. I met Maddie when Kevin and I were filming Kevin Can Wait. Make-A-Wish America reached out and told us that a young girl’s wish was to meet us. I was so touched. This beautiful little girl was a fan of King of Queens? And we of course said yes. Maddie and her family came to visit us on set, and what started as a meet-and-greet turned into a real, almost decade-long, lasting friendship. Maddie would text me almost every day. She sent me funny videos, shared stories about her life, and came out to LA with her family, where I attempted to get her to expand her palate (though she always circled back to her favorite, a Caesar salad). We shared many beautiful moments that have kept me positive in moments of difficulty and darkness, and she was about to come to LA again, where I planned on celebrating her for her birthday and her recent accomplishments. Maddie had Spinal Muscular Atrophy type two (SMA), but she never let it define her. She was excited to begin advocacy work and had recently told me she was officially going to start speaking publicly about her experiences, not even for herself, but to help others. She had big dreams, and I was so proud watching her grow into the leader I always knew she was. Maddie loved her family and friends fiercely. For her young age, she would prefer to be with friends and family, playing games and our favorite, Phase 10. She loved all things girly: nails, hair, makeup, the Timberwolves. And she hated snow (though she lived in Minnesota), and more importantly, she loved helping people. She wrote me love notes daily, and I only hope I had let her know how much joy she brought me. It is me who hopes that she knew how much I loved her. I received this text from her friend Emma, whom I knew from the many funny videos Maddie sent me of the two of them. I’ve included it below. After flying to Minnesota to say goodbye (although she had already passed while I was in the air), I wanted her to know what she meant to me. That she was thinking of me in this way and wanted me to have the things she mentioned, that she cared so much, is also truly touching and heartbreaking. Maddie had so much life ahead of her. Her disease didn’t stop her spirit or dim her light. She was hopeful, brilliant, and genuinely excited for her future. I will miss her texts, her videos, and hearing from her every day. I dated a girl once and she was extremely beautiful. She worked for DNA models. She ate a terrible diet that horrified me. She thought she had to. By far the strangest thing about her was that she would listen to the same song for over 4 hours in a row, every day She'd come home exhausted, climb into bed and put on her huge expensive headphones and start playing her song. It was this song. It was no secret, I could always hear it through the headphones. In her music app she only had this song and she put it on a permanent loop. Some days she'd listen to it for 4 hours. Other days for more. Occasionally at the weekends if she really needed to recover in bed, she'd listen for 8 hours or more When I was around her, I'd listen too. Not because I wanted to, but you could always hear it a little from her headphones, in the background. At a certain point, it started to feel normal. At the start, I asked her why she did it and she said "I just love this song, why would I listen to anything else". I really liked her answer. So I didn't challenge it. She said she'd been doing it for years Sometimes I'd pick her up from shoots in the city and the moment she met me she'd ask if she could please put her headphones on and listen to music. Then she'd start. She wouldn't do it in public without me there, because she wanted to stay aware of her surroundings. But if I was there, she could put her headphones on straight away and just trust she was safe. She'd listen to her song and rest on my shoulder and close her eyes as we rode the subway home Throughout our relationship we didn't talk much, really. It was more of a physical thing. Not in a superficial way. Not just lust. I mean that we were both completely satisfied just resting on each other, without speaking. We liked physical contact, or a sense of shared physical beingness. But neither of us needed to talk like most people do and we really savored that about each other I actually really loved it when she put her headphones on and entered her cosy,safe space. It was like she was entering into a little coccoon. With time, I realized it was a kind of recovery protocol and a meditative trance. It anchored a state of rest for her that she desperately needed. She didn't have OCD or any other compulsions. It was just this one thing. This one particular song. It was like a little cave she entered to heal from the stress of the day and burdens of existence. I dated her for 2 years and she did it every single day, up until the end. When I kissed her goodbye on the final day, she had her big headphones hanging around her neck and the song was playing through them. It was the last thing I heard, on the last day I looked into her eyes

My beloved mother was a gem, an icon. She was my best friend and my biggest supporter. She gave me life, and she was the light of mine. She was a blessing to me and to anyone who knew her. She went to heaven eight years ago today. I was fortunate to have her in my life for 78 years, yet nothing could have prepared me for the depth of grief her passing would bring. I still haven’t gotten over losing her, and I don’t think I ever will. I know we’re only just passing through, and I believe death is not the end. Energy never dies, but letting go is so hard. I’ll love you always and miss you forever, Mama. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you. Until we meet again. If you’re fortunate enough to still have your mother, hold her close. Tell her you love her. Cherish every moment you have together, because one day she will be gone and those moments will become priceless memories.

I’ll keep it short but it was a very sad week at the Followill household as we said our goodbyes to one of our three Greyhounds, Joanie. She was 10 yrs & ~2 mos and this girl bravely fought inflammatory bowel disease for months but it was time to stop asking her to fight and let her go. After a short racing career she came to us as a foster from the great folks at GALTx 🐕 but we fell in love with this sweet, funny, pretty girl w/ quirks I could go on about forever. Our home became her forever home and she brought us a lot of joy for eight years. I think she loved life as a Followill and her mom and dad and greyhound sister and brother will always love her and miss her immensely.

I don’t even know the right word to use for that woman.🥹 The quiet type, the shy type. She doesn’t talk too much, but somehow she controls everything just with her eyes. One look from her and you already understand. She will do anything to protect me. Anything. She lost her husband (my dad) when she was just around 31 or 32. Still very young. Still in her prime. Many people in that situation would have chosen to remarry and start another life. But she didn’t, She chose us. She used the rest of her youth just to raise us and make sure we were okay. Along the way, she sold almost everything she had worked for in her 20s, just so we wouldn’t suffer. I love her so much. ❤️

I met a real "Most Alberta Woman" yesterday in Cremona. Her name is Alana Miller. She and her husband are cattle ranchers. She showed up in her SUV, with a small child in the back seat. She was still wearing her work clothes. She was in a mild panic. "Did I miss it? Are you guys closed?" She desperately wanted to sign the petition. She came prepared with 5 documents to prove her identity and her physical address. Everyone there was taken aback by her smile and enthusiasm. She is the future of Alberta, and we all knew it. I asked her if I coud film her, and I'm so glad she agreed.

This has always confused me. She tributes to Her dad about never giving up on her and her mom for being her strength in her high school yearbook post. But yet she always says her dad left her after the divorce and her she never had a strong female figure. She said her grandmother on her deathbed asked her to forgive her mom. She said her grandfather was the only male in her life. And she was kicked out at 14. Had to live with a boyfriend and pay for herself. So is she lying about her childhood? Why didn’t she say thank you to her grandfather she says raised her and taught her everything about being who she is? Does it seem weird to you or am I just being a Candace and reading too much into this? How does she say it? It’s not sending me the right vibes.

Caller: "Okay. So, I've been with my wife for, we've been together since we were 14, for 14 years. I'm 32, I met her when I was 19, we had a child at 20. And, um, I've always just kind of been a butthead to her, to be honest. Every now and then I would demean her or make little comments, and I would say it started to really get bad about six weeks ago. Um, we were doing some work in the yard, and I really just blew up on her over the stupidest little thing. And then about a week later, we're just constantly arguing and dividing from each other. And then about a week or two later, she told me that she thought she was falling out of love with me. And it just really crushed me. I never would have thought that those words could come out of her mouth, and she told me that the way I treat her is, I'm not treating her the right way. And I completely owned it. I mean, I said everything you said is absolutely correct. You know, and I said, 'I don't want my son, our son growing up thinking that this is how you're supposed to treat women.' And, I mean, since that day, I have treated her like an angel. I mean, I've done everything and just constantly telling her I love her, giving her hugs, kisses. Um, but that was a Saturday night, and then Monday night she ended up telling me that she was, um, in communication with a guy she met on TikTok. And she told me she broke it off with him, and I asked her, What was the subjects about?' And she said it was just somebody to talk to about what I'm going through, my mental, you know, health. And she said it was never anything flirtatious or anything like that. She said it was just a stranger that I could talk to, but she said, 'I broke it off with him, and I'm gonna focus on us. And I said, 'I'm all in with you, let's rebuild this.' And we went about two weeks and it was just absolute honeymoon phase. I mean, we were just, never it was great. And then I went through her phone two weeks after that and found that she was on Snapchat with the guy. And I confronted her about it, and she said, 'Okay, well, I didn't think you were really gonna change, and I wanted to keep this friendship with the guy.' And she said, 'I'll break it off with him.' And I'm just super confused. I don't really know how to handle this. Now she's saying that she's all done talking to him, and I'm like, 'Well, how do I trust you now? Um, we were doing some work in the yard, and I really just blew up on her over the stupidest little thing. And then about a week later, we're just constantly arguing and dividing from each other. And then about a week or two later, she told me that she thought she was falling out of love with me. And it just really crushed me. I never would have thought that those words could come out of her mouth, and she told me that the way I treat her is, I'm not treating her the right way. And I completely owned it. I mean, I said everything you said is absolutely correct. You know, and I said, 'I don't want my son, our son growing up thinking that this is how you're supposed to treat women.' And, I mean, since that day, I have treated her like an angel. I mean, I've done everything and just constantly telling her I love her, giving her hugs, kisses. Um, but that was a Saturday night, and then Monday night she ended up telling me that she was, um, in communication with a guy she met on TikTok. And she told me she broke it off with him, and I asked her, What was the subjects about?' And she said it was just somebody to talk to about what I'm going through, my mental, you know, health. And she said it was never anything flirtatious or anything like that. She said it was just a stranger that I could talk to, but she said, 'I broke it off with him, and I'm gonna focus on us. And I said, 'I'm all in with you, let's rebuild this.' And we went about two weeks and it was just absolute honeymoon phase. I mean, we were just, never it was great. And then I went through her phone two weeks after that and found that she was on Snapchat with the guy. And I confronted her about it, and she said, 'Okay, well, I didn't think you were really gonna change, and I wanted to keep this friendship with the guy.' And she said, 'I'll break it off with him.' And I'm like, 'Okay, I guess I'll give you a second chance. I'm kind of heartbroken again that you would keep this from me. And then about a week and a half later, which was just yesterday, I went through the call logs on which, I feel bad because I'm constantly digging at all this, but every time I dig, I find something. And I confronted her yesterday that she's been talking to this guy for 30, 40, 50 minutes a day, um, the last week and a half, after she told me a third time that she was breaking it off with him. And I'm just super confused. I don't really know how to handle this. Now she's saying that she's all done talking to him, and I'm like, 'Well, how do I trust you now? You've been lying to me for the past three weeks about this.' So, that's really all I got." John Delony: "So for 14 years... you belittled your wife. She got the clear message she was beneath you. So, to share the details of my Daddy Daughter Dance experience. Mila LOVED everything about the day, and the dance. She loved her wrist corsage, which was expensive as hell ($35). She never left me, not once, even when her friends showed. We all danced together. For 90 minutes straight. She kept asking me to pick her up and dance with her, which is tough because she weighs about 50 pounds. My back is on fire. But we had a ball. This is her birthday weekend and we kicked it off in style.

My beautiful friend, who is battling cancer, sends me inspirational messages every single day. While she is fighting for her life, she spends her days trying to make everyone around her feel loved, cared for, and inspired! This was today’s video she sent me of a girl (Maddie) she loves listening to... Remember, every one of us gets to choose: are we going to let the dark swallow us, or are we going to run toward the light and multiply it? I am blessed to have incredible warriors for good in my life. Please pray for her.
