My proposed strategy involves great respect for China. The future for China if a strategy of denial works is to be one of the world’s two superpowers; it would command great respect and influence. Is that not a better outcome than risking it all in a major war?

China would "command great respect and influence" as long as it surrenders Taiwan and accepts subordination within its own region to the "anti-hegemonic coalition." That sounds like containment. Would the US itself ever accept any comparable denial of its strategic goals?

China is already respected and has influence in a multipolar world. China is a peaceful nation working in partnership with other nations to build a better future for all humanity.

Absolutely wrong strategy. The Achilles heel of the Chinese Empire is the fact that it IS an empire & thus an anachronism in the 21st century. There are powerful centrifugal forces within China. We should support them. The world will be much safer place when the Empire breaks up.

There can be two suns in the Sky only if the US acknowledges the chinese sphere of influence in Asia. Otherwise China would feel disrespected, challenged and most of all threatened. Let's not forget security needs is what dictates (with History and geography) geopolitics.

Being subordinate to another country half way across the world didn't work for China over a hundred years ago and it wouldn't work for it today. Just deal with the waning days of western supremacy. It's done. We're in a new era.

I hold a gun to your head. Your choice: A) acquiesce to my demands and win respect,— OR 2) fight for your rights. Hm…

Why there has to be only “2” superpowers and not let us say 3 or 4?
