Last week I told you all that Ray, yes the guy who bypassed our recruiter and texted my personal cell to get the Chief of Staff Job, started with us. One of the first things I put him on is leading the recruiting efforts for our head of growth role. I gave him a $50 budget and a 2 week timeline. Ray is a scrappy young gentleman, and decided we need to hit the streets of Chicago to find that person. So yeah, we're still looking. Together with officers from the Liquor Licensing Board and the National Police today we conducted a raid on a wines and spirits shop that has been operating as a bar and restaurant without valid documents. We have also been receiving persistent complaints of noise pollution from area residents on the establishment. During a previous raid, the owner mobilized goons to confront our officers. We confirmed that the premises still lacked the necessary documents. We took exhibits and arrested the supervisor who will be arraigned in court.

Friends, on this Second Sunday of Lent, our first reading about Abraham and Matthew’s account of the Transfiguration orient us to a basic biblical principle. God has made us to go out from ourselves, to experience the splendor of reality. The more we let go of ourselves and our prerogatives—and the less we try to grasp and hang on to things—the more alive we become. Salvation, therefore, has a lot to do with adventure.

It took us two months to begin rebuilding and arranging our home. And we are still burdened with debts we have not been able to repay, due to the overwhelming cost of rebuilding our home. To this day, we are still clearing rubble from inside it. And the answer to the question is no — the house is not safe. On the very first night, pieces of plaster fell from the ceiling onto the bed. We were forced to remove all the plaster from the walls with our own hands. We are still trying to settle and adapt, using every possible way just to live. We still love our home. Even though a large part of it has been removed — the kitchen, the hallway, and part of the living room — we continue to see it as our home, our first and last refuge. From moonmen to mosh pits, it shaped our youth, our rebellions, our dreams. Farewell to the era when music videos united us on one channel. I was 6 yrs old when Thriller from Michael Jackson debuted on MTV and I remember being enthralled. The world is not a better place without music TV 😢

Over and over again, we see the failures and the foibles of God's people and their rebellion, and if this were just a book written by people who wanted to tell the history of a particular group, they wouldn't include all of this stuff that proves that it's really God who's powerful.” Allie continues on to say, “If someone were to conspire together to try to build a man-made ideology just for power, it wouldn't have been the Bible." Campo responded: "It's true. It's one of the reasons I'm so proud to say I'm a person of this faith, because it doesn't try to hide our past. It doesn't try to say, ‘Look, we serve only perfect people.’” He says, “Despite our sin, God loves us and He has a story of reconciliation to tell us."
