My response to comments saying "Just teach the algorithm!"
11 Yorum

Teaching the algorithm is comfortable for the teacher because that’s what they learned; however, when a student struggles with it and has no conceptual knowledge to support him, he’s lost.

the comment is basically ignorant, because there is no unique algorithm for virtually any mathematical problem.

Amazing! Thank you

Can reinforcement learning handle stock market swings? In my latest free Substack, find out how SARSA reinforcement learning algorithm can help create adaptive strategies and improve performance.

Thanks, Howie! Yes!!!

A lot of this is inertia from the time when the only way of getting a right answer was having a human do the calculations. This was not so long ago, just a couple generations.

The world needs you.

Well said!

Howie- always enjoy your videos. Do you think the “just teach algorithms” is just a response the delay the algorithms or don’t teach the algorithms approach? Nearly all published math curriculum is mostly multiple strategies and barely algorithms or no algorithms at all.

@RyanKennedy_22 don’t know if you see his videos or not. Saw your post about order of operations and thought of you when I saw this.

So on point here. Ps Love the t-shirt!
