My Spotify Puck is working!! I wanted to see how custom I could go with UI based on ESP32 and lvgl limitations, additionally pulling data from Spotify web API, and utilising the round display to its fullest. I am very happy with the results!!

my issue with this device has been getting the audio driver to work well with it 🤔 got a fun audio thing i'd been messin' with but i can only use the esp as a remote atm 😭

I thought it was just me, was trying to make a sim with with boundry collision sounds but didn’t work

we need to solve it ha 😅 i can make it make really loud beep tones but beyond that i've not had a lot of luck 😩

Gonna ask Astra to one shot this 🤣

Do you have a link to that hardware device? Would love to buy one.

Cool, I’ve been playing around with these sorts of ESP32 devices as well!

vinyl puck

Nice! Just built the same thing for the waveshare 2.07”

I have a voice agent running on mine. Source is online

That looks like an actual apple product haha Looks awesome!

that’s so cute

This is awesome! But please make the album art in the middle rotate as well, it’s such a pet peeve of mine when folk do this haha

Haha ofc i did that initially , but the FPS dropped so much that the whole thing started lagging

It should handle a rotation fine. Maybe it needs to drop the resolution on the image? I’m sure Claude can work out a way to get it working!

The chip doesn’t have enough memory to render it smoothly even with small resolution, i spent wayy too many tokens trying to optimise it xD but i had to settle with this version in the end. Ill try some other techniques over the weekend maybe something would end up working

Maybe some aggressive dithering and reducing color depth? In sureeeee it’s doable. You got this 💪

Will definitely try. Thanks for the suggestion! 🙌

amazing

That looks like a super fun project to tackle. Getting the Spotify API to play nice with custom hardware is no small feat, congrats on getting it running.

But who was the one that got away?

does it have any haptic feedback when you tap the controls?

The device doesn’t have a haptic motor

Is it as responsive to touch as a phone screen or is there a lag?

Id say it is pretty responsive

woahhh

But why ?

I️ built this on a dial esp32. I️ didn’t even think of doing it with touchscreen controls like that! Very cool
