My statement following Dartford’s traffic standstill today, caused by a partial closing at the Dartford Crossing after a hydraulic leak. We urgently need the Lower Thames Crossing crossing built to relieve non-stop gridlock in Dartford and to stop disrupting people’s every day lives.

@lowerthames It's all good making statements. I've been on a 20 minute journey for 6 hours! No accountability, just more words. Everyone involved needs sacking

@lowerthames Unfortunately Jim, if there are incidents at Dartford or on the £10bn+ Lower Thames Crossing sticking plaster, there is inadequate infrastructure in place to allow traffic to migrate between the two crossings. You would have gridlock in multiple locations

@lowerthames We don't need the Lower Thames crossing.

@lowerthames What I fail to understand is why it takes so long to repair the road surface with the new tarmac only stating to be laid at 6.30pm tonight according to National Highways ,absolute joke and the people at the top need sacking

@lowerthames People who are saying it’s not needed, today is a prime example of why it is needed. Ongoing traffic till late hours even till this hour (time 21:55). Journeys from work which normally takes 30 mins taking 2 hours and a half. People need to grow up and think long term.

@lowerthames Please raise an Urgent Question in the Commons and ask if it’s fair that Dartford continues to suffer while the bean counters decide for another 7 months if the LTC can go ahead.

@lowerthames Monday was a bad day Jim yes but there is delay day after day at the crossing and nothing is ever done about it. Daily misery for locals and hell for motorists trying to get to work, enough is enough. This crossing is all about making money. Less talk from you lot more action
