This is Nyiaeso Constituency, the constituency of Hon. Stephen Amoah, the MP the Ralph guy attacked at Parliament yesterday. As citizens have the right to question the leaders we've given power to, we have the right to question MPs who are ‘in charge of us’. Ralph is not a resident of the Nhyiaeso constituency so in what capacity did he question the man of his responsibilities to his constituents when he Ralph is not a member? Ralph is from Dunkwa-on-Offin, the headquarters of galamsey in the Central region. It is in Dunkwa-on-Offin that you will see galamsey being done in people's bedrooms. It is in Dunkwa-on-Offin that galamsey has destroyed 80% of their entire vegetation. So if he has any MP to attack at Parliament, he should go and attack the MP in charge of Dunkwa-on-Offin, his hometown MP, not the Nhyiaeso MP. So between the MP for Nyiaeso and the MP of Dunkwa on Offin who is supposed to be questioned or attacked for his negligence to his people?

A common citizen has every right to question the Member of Parliament of his constituency on what tangible contributions have been made, beyond empty political rhetoric. Why should such a basic, democratic question invite intimidation? This is not a question limited to the Karur MP alone. For the past six years, MPs of the I.N.D.I. Alliance have remained in a deep slumber. When questions are met with fists & intimidation rather than facts, it is a clear admission of failure.

This is supposed to be an opposition Member of Parliament in Zimbabwe called Samantha Mureyani from Manicaland. This Member of Parliament spoke in Zimbabwe’s Parliament today. Despite being an opposition MP, she stated that she supports Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 sponsored by the ruling ZANUPF. She specifically spoke about her support for President Emmerson Mnangagwa remaining in office for an additional two years beyond the current constitutional term limit of 10 years. She also expressed support for the idea of extending presidential terms to seven years. This is the quality of some of the MPs sitting in Zimbabwe’s Parliament today. As I have said before, this is not just a Zimbabwean crisis or a Zimbabwean story. It is a regional story. When the political fallout from these developments begins to unfold and the economy deteriorates even further, it is countries such as South Africa and Botswana that will bear the brunt of increased migration pressures from Zimbabwe. That is what unfolded in Zimbabwe’s Parliament today. This MP was brought into Parliament by the charlatan-imposed opposition parliamentary leader, Sengezo Tshabangu, who captured the CCC party, taking advantage of the fact that it did not have a constitution or leadership structures. He falsely claimed to be the party’s Secretary-General, which he was not, and exploited the vacuum created by the absence of formal structures and leadership.

Opposition MP demands US$150k housing loans for legislators • Chalton Hwende MP also calls for a salary increment for MPs BULAWAYO – Kuwadzana Member of Parliament, Chalton Hwende, says legislators must receive housing loans and suggested that the amount should be around US$150k for each member. He was contributing to the ongoing pre-budget seminar in Bulawayo, where he lamented the government’s failure to provide funds to allow MPs to build on residential stands they received from the government. The constitutional amendments now in parliament propose that Zimbabwe must shift from direct voting for president to selection by the people’s representatives in parliament. Chigumbu, a software developer, serves as MP for the Budiriro South constituency. He was elected to the National Assembly on a CCC ticket during the 2023 general elections.
